Owner description: Erected during Roman times, this is the most ancient and photographed bridge in Florence, which is characterized by three arches and two wide arcades on each side housing the famous and unusual "botteghe" or shops.

The history of this ancient bridge is palpable and their are good views of the Arno River and the city from it's observation spots. But, unfortunately the bridge has been overrun with touristy jewelry stores and the crowds are crazy.

A real tourist trap. Nice views of the Arno River (which you can get from the other bridges), but the jewelry shops are overprices because of the bridge. It is fun to people watch and you can see the top of the Duomo from the bridge. It is worth walking through the bridge, but that is it.

Has lost any charm it may have had with tourist tat and blingy jewellery shops. Dodge the crowds and see it from a distance from where you can pretend it is still nice.

For the first glance you can't believe how houses are built on that bridge .
Views from there are beautiful.

A modern tradition consists that lovers lock a padlock onto the bridge and throw the key into the water symbolizing their eternal love.

Worth a walk if it gets you from point A to point B but don't search out this bridge in particular if there is another closer to your destination.
