My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Bernardo. The tour was comprehensive, informative and FUN. Bernie's sense of humour and personal interaction with the group is what made the tour most enjoyable. He knows his City and its treasures and shares his love of both with wit and humour. The tour was a great introduction to Florence and to spend so much time with DAVID was the highlight. Thanks Bernie and WOI.

Fantastic day out which was a really welcome break from the heat and intensity of Rome sightseeing. Breathtaking scenery, beautiful hill towns and of course the wonderful food and wine. The small group meant that we got to know each other well over lunch and enjoyed each other's company when travelling. Violette is a very knowledgeable guide and provided lots of background information about the history of the areas that we travelled through and visited. Although we saw a lot during the day, the whole atmosphere was one of relaxation and fun. We had a lovely time and would recommend this tour.

Walks of Italy's "Florence In A Day" combines the "Best of Florence" tour in the morning with the "Uffizi" tour in the afternoon. There's so much to see at each sight and museum, you could easily spend hours (and DAYS) wandering around. These tours are an INCREDIBLE way to catch the "highlights" (the well renowned pieces and artists) and get great insight and perspective from passionate, enthusiastic guides. We spent the day with Ismael in our small group (12 people) as we started with the David at the Academia and toured around Florence, took a break for lunch, then met back for a visit to the Uffizi. Ismael was friendly and kept the tour and information at a lively and interesting pace. One of three "Walks of Italy" tours we took - we couldn't have been more pleased with ALL of them! Well worth the money spent on a small, intimate tour versus a large group or figuring it out on your own! You're not going to see EVERYTHING unless you spend A LOT of time at each venue on your own, so join a small group on "Walks of Italy" - you'll see plenty and learn LOTS!

I took the "Florence in a Day" tour with Helen. Everything from the easy-to-find meeting spot to the engaging stories on tour to restaurant recommendations made this day amazing! We started by skipping the line at the Accademia to see Michelangelo's David and other famous sculptures. I loved how Helen told the story of Michelangelo and engaged us in looking at and discussing the "unfinished" sculptures as well. I really appreciated having a few extra minutes to take in the David and take photos (unlike other tours where they rush you past the best works of art history)! Our next stop was the Florence Cathedral with a fascinating visit to the underground excavations. Then we took a lovely walk through Florence as Helen told us the interesting historical background and tips for shopping, ordering a caffe, and other sights to see. A lovely stop in front of the Palazzo Vecchio and nearby Loggia to hear more stories of Cosimo di Medici. We ended the morning at the Ponte Vecchio - the most photographed bridge in the world!

After a wonderful lunch (on my own) at nearby Manga Pizza and gelato at the recommended spot, we met back in the Piazza dei Signoria for the trip to the Uffizzi. And wow! I cannot say enough about the Uffizzi! As an art history teacher, I was astounded to turn corner after corner to see famous works I've taught for years! Helen's pace was great! She guided us to the most important works, told interesting stories about the artists and allowed us enough time to really look. The galleries were very crowded with bigger tour groups, but Helen did a great job moving us through to get our turn in front of each work. We had 3 younger kids in the group, and Helen did an excellent job of keeping them interested too!

At the end of the tour, Helen gave great recommendations for what else to see and do in Florence. I followed her advice and visited the Palazzo Pitti and Bargello (but just missed the Brancussi Chapel - it closes at 5 pm!) My only regret was being too tired to fully enjoy this long day! I would recommend a good night's rest before taking on Florence in a Day! :)

Charles our tour guide brought history to life with his interesting facts and stories about Michelangelo and De Medici family. He provided context to all the sites including great information on the making of David and the Duomo including the underground. Really informative. We recommend this tour. The walk is easy and the "skip the line" tickets make it worth it! Charles was a great guide!
