Walks of Italy did another fantastic tour. After having 3 amazing tours with this company in Rome, we did the Uffizi with them in Florence for another outstanding experience. Ishmael was our guide and took us to the outstanding art in this huge gallery. The gallery had a lot of visitors but he got us into areas where we could see the works easily. He made sure we could notice the main points of the artist's work and not miss anything important. The gallery is huge and you know you need to come back here sometime. Without this tour and our guide, we would have missed so much of this marvelous experience. Thank you Ishmael and Walks of Italy.

Other than a little confusion regarding the start time of our tour, this was one of the highlights of a 10 day visit to Italy. Our guide Paul took us through the streets of Florence and in doing so, created an interactive experience by not only describing the deep history of the city but, also engaging us with questions and tidbits we would have never have thought of asking. He was a pure professional, always cognizant on keeping the tour focused to what our interests were along with providing detail beyond what we expected. The ability to get us priority through long lines didn't hurt either, wish we could do it again soon!

At the risk of sounding a touch dramatic, I can say without hesitation that the day I spent in Tuscany with Walks of Italy will go down as one of the most visually memorable days of my life. These guys must have Hollywood location scouts working for them, because every stop on this tour will go toe-to-toe with your wildest imagination's golden film-version of Tuscany and win. From the soaring churches precariously perched in ancient hill towns populated by wild cats to the breathtaking vistas from our five-course lunch under the trees on an organic farm populated by goats and peacocks, be prepared: you will need extra camera batteries. There is also the crumbling medieval castle to climb all over and explore, the stunning and fascinating modern winery and vineyards, and every kind of mouthwatering food this region has every produced. Our guide was incredibly engaging and knowledgeable, the pace was perfect, and the food and wine indescribably delicious and plentiful. This is a day in Tuscany you could never plan or execute on your own. If you have 12 hours to spare on your next trip to Florence or Rome, do yourself a favor and book this tour.

We began our tour (only 9 people total) with an introduction to the history of Italy and Florence's role. Our guide, Klaus (pronounced "class") is a PhD art historian from Amsterdam, so we could not have asked for a better leader. Our visit to the museum where we saw several of Michaelangelo's works was highlighted by viewing "The David". Klaus gave us the "full story" of the creation and meaning of the statue, which put it's significance in perspective (beyond the fantastic work of art that it is). We then toured the rest of the city using back alleys and short cuts to get to the various other attractions. By doing this, we got a more in-depth education about Florence and the "behind the scenes" views of the Basilica S. Maria (Walks of Italy "skips the line"), Ponte Vecchio, etc. The small group made travelling through the busy streets easier (no waiting for stragglers to catch up). Would use Walks of Italy next time for certain.

The tour was fantastic and the guide was able to answer any question I could seem to throw at them. A bit of a hike but well worth it to enjoy the persolized experience of a small group environment with special attention given.
