Owner description: Love Duets’ Concert: you do not have to be a lover of Italian Opera to enjoy this wonderful evening. It’s set in a small church from 1800’s. You have a piano, soprano & tenor performing Opera’s love song and Italian love songs. The setting and performance is overwhelmingly powerful. You’ll be moved to tears by the emotions. Not to be missed.

Contacted Franz via e-mail months ahead of the trip, which was a surprise visit to Florence for our 10th wedding anniversary. Communication and organisation was spot on - front row seats at the performance of Carmen were reserved for us. What an intimate performance - at one point "carmen" sat down next to my wife. I'm not an opera fan - that's my wife's department - but the power and impact of the voices was breathtaking, and left my wife with tears in her eyes. The cast were superb. This was a cut above any opera in a theatre - remarkable. This was my wife's highpoint of our visit to Florence - and Florence was amazing.

“Loved La Traviata”
Reviewed April 25, 2011

My fiancee and I saw La Traviata here based on Trip Advisor's recommendation. Neither of us had ever been to the opera before and we were excited to see it in Florence. First thing to know: this takes place in a small church, with chairs positioned around a simple set in the middle. Don't expect a big stage or fancy lighting. The singing is really the highlight. The performers are right in front of you and they are excellent.

I should also mention that it is an English church, so it doesn't have the most authentic Italian feel, but well worth it nonetheless.

“Not to be missed”
Reviewed April 23, 2011

We prebooked for La Traviata,La Boheme and Carmen before our 10 day stay in Florence. We were so pleased with the first performance that we also booked for The Marriage of Figaro and the concert of duets and Italian songs.St. Mark's Church is a lovely intimate setting with excellent accoustics. The operas are cleverly adapted for a cast of the principal roles with excellent singing and acting so the storyline is easily followed. However to make sure the charming host / furniture remover provides a witty and entertaining explaination of the ensuing act.All this and a 2 euro glass of Prosseco at the interval with an opportunity to contribute to a good cause - it would convert a Heavy Metal Fan,but be late at your peril!

“Front Row Experience for Cheap”
Reviewed April 17, 2011

My friend and I had a wonderful time watching La Boheme. We paid 15 euros for the student ticket and it was a complete deal. The interior of the church is beautiful and the intimate atmosphere is a one of a kind opera experience. The host interacts with the audience and the size of the church makes every seat a front row seat. The best part is that the performance is not compromised by the cheap price. We loved St. Marks so much that we're going back tomorrow for the Carmen viewing.

“INCREDIBLE Opera in an Intimate Setting”
Reviewed April 17, 2011

HIGHLY RECOMMEND an Opera at St. Mark's Anglican Church while visiting Florence!! We attended La Boheme and it was a very special evening for our family. St. Mark's Church is a lovely, intimate setting for enjoying the voices of this very talented opera company.
