“Absolutely Brilliant! Hotel Loggiato dei Serviti has world class charm!!!”
Reviewed August 29, 2010

Hotel Loggiato dei Serviti was a convent originally and still exudes a quiet solitude and grace that provides an oasis after a long day of sightseeing activities. The beamed ceilings, winding hallways of nooks and crannies, stone steps, antiques, and fabulous collection of art and books add the character and charm that you would hope to find in a city like Florence. We had a two bedroom, one bath suite, which was perfect since we were traveling with our eleven year old daughter and it actually cost about the same as a boring, character-less room elsewhere in the city. The location can't be beat, just down the street from the Duomo and around the corner from Academia, and it's extremely quiet at night allowing you to refuel for your next day of activities. Breakfast is included and the hotel provides a nice spread that does the job. The staff are warm and friendly and go out of their way to help without being overbearing. We visited Venice and Rome also during our trip and everywhere we stayed paled in comparison. I look forward to the next time I can return to this wonderful hotel!

We spent two nights there. We stayed in a fabulous room (39), with a panoramic view on the roofs of Florence and a private balcony. I don't know if the other rooms are the same standing or not. Ours was just AMAZING. The hotel is authentic and beautiful and quiet. The service was also excellent, I have nothing to say. The hotel is located 2 minutes from the DUOMO, which means in the city centre.
We will come back for sure.
Deserves more than 3 stars for sure.

Myself and my wife stayed here with our 2 year old daughter and had a wonderful time. We were there for my Brothers wedding and as such, stayed with most of the wedding guests. Our room was located in an annex building which at first was of putting but we soon discoverd the benefit - larger rooms and quiet building. The staff were fantastic and hugely accommodating to our group. The hotel is located along a typical Italian square which is frequented by homeless folks - they stayed to themselves and caused us no trouble.
I would highly recommend this hotel if visiting Florence - easy access to most of the hot spots, very clean rooms and hotel, amazingly friendly and accommodating staff.

My wife and I stayed here three nights of our honeymoon. The room was very clean, beautiful, and had a great view of the Duomo and Tower. It was very romantic and within easy walking distance from the major Renaissance attractions of Florence. The service was very friendly and helpful and the on sight breakfast was very good and definitely worth the extra Euros, especially because of the man who prepared it! I highly recommend this place!

My mother and I stayed at this hotel during our two day stay in Florence. Overall, our experience was great. I notified the hotel that it was a special occasion for my mother (60th birthday) and they gave us a very nice room with a complementary bottle of prosecco. The room was unusually large for Italy and had a very large bathroom. We also had a balcony, which overlooked the dome of the duomo. It was great for relaxing in the afternoon over prosecco.

A few potential issues: The square that the hotel is located is popular with homeless/drunk people who hang out there during day and night. They didn't bother us, except for asking for a smoke, which we just ignored. Coming from large cities, mom and I didn't mind this, and were not bothered, but I could imagine it could potentially disturb people from cities/towns that don't have these problems.

Secondly, the service during breakfast was not great. There is one server taking care of the breakfast hall and he didn't respond to our requests for a glass or salt. We just grabbed them ourselves. We didn't mind, but its good to know in terms of setting expectations.

Thirdly, the wifi worked very haphazardly. You get an access code from the reception for wifi, but 60% of the time, for some reason, the code didn't work. Again, we were not looking to be wired 100%, but if you are looking for it, that would potentially be a problem (like in many other hotels in Italy).

Location worked well for us: It is a 5 min./ Euro 15 cab ride from the train station, stone throw away from Accademia, 3-4 minute walk to the Duomo, 7-8 min. walk to piazza della republica and about a 15 min walk to Ponte Vecchio. However, if you are looking to be right near Ponte Vecchio/Uffizi Gallery, then this may not be the best place to stay.
