“Quiet, charming hotel in excellent location! Great value.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2012

We loved this hotel! After coming from touristy Venice we were so relieved to find ourselves in a quiet, authentically Italian/Florentine hotel like this one. It's located on a quiet square (no driving) just a block from the Accademia Museum and a quick walk to the Duomo. The staff is incredible, and they offer a delicious breakfast with made-to-order cappuccinos. Highly recommend! (note- get ready for old-school decor... this is a former convent and it's not hard to tell!)

This hotel enriched my experience of a trip to Florence. Its location is flawless, not only is it situated in a quiet little piazza, but upon exiting the hotel and walking about 60m you can see the imposing dome of the basilica de Santa Maria del Fiore; the main attraction of Florence. This location was perfect and I awoke every morning excited about my stroll down the street towards the Duomo.

The hotel itself did not disappoint. The staff were friendly, especially in the morning when serving coffee; the same chap remembered my order from the very first day! The furnishings brought together a late Renaissance feel, throughout the hotel and even in the room. As a solo traveller I had opted for a single room, and I was not sure if it was indeed a single room; the bed could easily have fitted two!

This hotel certainly exceeded my expectations, and any and all future trips to Florence will be booked at this hotel.

Room Tip: Remember, there is a 3 euro tourist tax for everyday you stay in Florence.

We were impressed from the start by the staff, who were friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Our room was large with a view of the duomo and a king size bed with canopy. The Accademia is right behind the hotel as is a school featuring performing arts - with the window open we heard very talented musicians and opera singers. It's a 10 minute walk to the duomo and another 15 to the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. Included breakfast was very good and the wifi was free.

This Hotel must have been great 75 years ago. Now it is tired, dingy and old fashioned with facilities that are simply no longer acceptable. One tiny lift, inefficient air con unit, ancient bathrooms and a small dark breakfast room are the most vivid examples. On the plus side it is well located with charming helpful staff to whom nothing appears too much trouble. Sadly, in the final analysis, the negatives well outweigh the positives.

Room Tip: This is a City hotel so be advised that if you wish to you this as a just a base for sightseeing, i...

The reception desk person, Ciara V., was a true delight! She was so friendly and helpful and her directions were always "spot-on" and easy to follow. Her English is great too. She helped make our stay VERY pleasant. The room was clean, large with great views! Even the bath towels were big and fluffy! Breakfast was very good as well.

We were pleased that we'd booked this hotel but when we arrived we heard those dreaded words "Your room is not here... it's in another building but don't worry , it's still part of the hotel and you have a view of the same piazza ." This turned out to be a complete LIE. It was a dirty dark building off the main square which seemed nothing to do with the hotel and instead of looking onto the square we looked straight into a local's flat. This hotel had just rented some rooms right on the top floor. This was nothing like the hotel we'd booked. Not even a reception. We were also forbidden even to breakfast in the hotel and were made to eat in a tiny room at this place that felt like a prison. Do not book at this hotel and become a victim like us! Find yourself ANYWHERE else !!!

Hotel is located in a great spot, offset just a bit from the hustle and bustle of the Duomo crowd. It is located on a historic piazza about 2-3 blocks away from some of the best attractions Florence has to offer. It is also around the corner from the Accademia Museum (David).
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with the few questions I asked. I was set up in a small room (solo traveler) that was roughly the size of every other room I've ever occupied in Italy, small. Ask yourself if you are going to Florence to spend time in your room. If the answer is "yes" then you should rethink your travel plans anyway. Regardless of teh size of the room, it was cozy and had a great Florentine feel to it. Also Wifi is free throughout the hotel, not just in the common areas. That was a huge plus as a lot of places I have stayed in Europe one have access in common areas b/c of the incredible thick plaster walls.
I was in an interior room, so Noise was not an issue at all, but my one complaint (not necessarily the Hotel's problem to fix) is that there is a bit of a seedy element that camps out in the Piazza it resides in. It was tough to sit on the awesome steps out front and enjoy my gelato's without a random gypsy asking for change or a cigarette. Although I saw this in nearly every section of Florence, not just the S.S piazza.
All in all, I WILL stay in the hotel next time I am in Florence, great place for the price

Room Tip: Interior rooms may lack the view, but seem to be a bit more quiet
