“History and More History”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

When most people think of Florence, they think of Paintings, but the Duomo Museum had some incredible Sculptures and awesome history to go along with it. I would highly recommend stopping in and learning about the Italian sculptures and the History behind it.

“The replica doors can't compare!”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

Ghiberti's original Gates of Paradies are here not still in the Baptistry. The restoration has them shiny and new however they are in a temporary location while a permanent location is constructed.

“Little gem”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

Don't miss this small quiet museum behind the Duomo. You will be able to get close to Michelangelo's last Pieta which is so different from his first. There are other very interesting sculptures as well as Ghiberti's original doors from the Baptistery. They are beautifully restored.

“Climb to the top”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

We joined the queue to visit the top of the Duomo Basilica and had about a 35 minute wait before ascending the 450+ steps to the viewing area. You do get to walk around the inside of the dome on your ascent, giving a great view of the frescoes and the chapels below. The view from the top is worth every step! This is the highest point in the city and when blessed with blue Tuscan skies you can see off into the slopes of the hills. This is the closest you will get to a real-life Assassin's Creed adventure.

Michelangelo's Pieta. Need I say more? Worth the effort!! It is stunning in person - pictures do not do it justice.
