Saw the restored Leonardo's Adoration of the Magi. The entire gallery is a must even just to see the building. No lines on Saturday afternoon in july!

Fascinating place and memorable art. Entrance surrounded by crowds who appeared to be in chaos. We needed wheelchair access but no signs anywhere, queues to ask for advice, guides offering information but were not employed by the gallery. Once inside staff were helpful, there are lifts and a lovely cafe.

Vast queues. You can jump them if you book a guided tour, but this is super-pricey - 40 Euros a head.
The collections are vast and if you love Renaissance art, you'll love this place. If you are not oozing passion for this artform from every fibre of your being, then the 3 hours queues may prove not worth the visit.

We found it essential to book at least 24 hrs in advance to get a limited choice of visiting slots. We went through our hotel and paid the standard 13 euros plus the 4 euro advance reservation charge. There are lot of people out there trying to sell you more expensive packages. With an order number it is about a 10 min queue to pay and collect, then with security, bags to leave, audio guide to source (10 euro for two) it is another 10 before you see your first painting. Using the audio guide we got plenty of information about everything we saw and really enjoyed it all. The way the Renaissance developed out of the medieval period is the main thread to follow. Lots of superb works of art. It took us 2.5 hours to get round with a breather half way.

The location is great, just 3 mins to the main highlights such as Palazzo Vecchio and Uffizi Gallery that are located direct in the city centre. The owner of this facility is very welcoming and I really liked that many brochures and city guides available for you to use in multiple languages. You can also enjoy free espresso and some biscuits ready for self-service in the kitchen.
