The museum itself is excellent -- our boys said it was their best experience of the day. That said, there are horrible lines to enter the Uffizi. I would recommend going there first thing in the morning to avoid the lines. We wasted about two hours in line, only to find very few people actually in the museum itself. After spending 1-1/2 hours in line, we finally saw a sign telling us that we could bypass the line by paying an extra fee. By that time we didn't want to pay the fee b/c we were nearly at the head of the line. Once we entered the museum and saw that it was not crowded, we felt that the need for the line was manufactured in order to coerce people into paying extra to get in earlier. The museum cafe is very nice, with a nice view of the Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio. Because time is at a premium, I would recommend paying the extra fee to by-pass the line.

It is a huge musume where people can spend hours in visiting and seeing every single piece of art in this museum. I found the infromation sheet in front of each art piece were quite small; so you may not be able to get clsoe enough to read the information especially when it was crowded with visitors in teh same room.

We reserved our entrance tickets online & thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Uffizi.

The whole area around the Uffizi is also amazing.

We thoroughly enjoyed discovering this amazing museum although some of the gallery rooms had poor a/c & it was difficult during the heat of the summer.

This museum has many great paintings and sculptures - Botticelli, Da Vinci, and Michelangelo. The most famous painting here is probably The Birth of Venus by Botticelli. There are also some great views of Florence from the inside of the museum. You are not allowed to take pictures inside and there are employees watching, I'd be careful if you want to try and sneak any pictures.
The biggest suggestion if you are visiting here is to pre-reserve your tickets. If you do that, you can skip the lines, and those lines get pretty long. I'd also suggest going early in the morning before it gets too crowded.

Was already expect to see Boticelli's Venus - but was really chuffed when there were 2 Da Vinci's & a Michaelangelo too.
