We booked in advance and it was worth it, collecting tickets all worked quite efficiently. Make sure you are on the official uffizi site though as others appear official but are not and prices are well loaded. Its actually really cheap. Uffizi is well laid out, breathtaking art, great views of the ponte vecchio and the coffee on the terrace was nice too. You can feel the history in this place. Love the Botticelli's.

It was very crowded and warm in the museum the day we went. We had wanted to get reservations for the morning, but only the late afternoon was available. The large number of people in the museum at the time along with a hot July day made it difficult to enjoy.

This is a must-see in Florence, but if you've been to the Prado in Madrid, the Louvre in Paris, or the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York you will be disappointed. A good part of the collection is devoted to early religious paintings by artists you've never heard of. Their one claim to fame is the Venus Rising from the Sea by Botticelli--worth the fame--but for me the highlight was walking into one of the galleries and finding four Remrandt portraits--they absolutely outshone everything else. Still, the architecture and sculptures are well worth the trip.

This museum is a must see if you're in Florence. We had reservations so we were able to walk past the huge lines and go right in. Be sure to save a couple of hours for a walk thru this wonderful museum.

This museum is a must-see in Italy. Get reservations 2 months in advance. No same-day admission. However, a tour is highly recommended, because tours skip the line and go right in. Tours also provide background to the art & history for the building.
