We enjoyed many of the exhibits. They have set them up in a way that you can walk through and see as much as you would like. The killer is the 4 double flights of stairs that you have to mount before you can begin touring the building.

I could have spent a month in the Uffizi gallery! If you only have a short period scheduled, plan ahead. Try to find out what rooms have the paintings or statuary you REALLY want to see before so that you don't miss them. Everything is beautifully and thoughtfully displayed. I bought the official tour guide book at the end and wished I'd had it at the beginning. I literally had to poke my head into a room to see if anything caught my eye and only went in if something did. All of the paintings had bilingual explanations and you can pay for the audio tours. I noticed that some visitors had hired professional guides and I will admit a few times I intentionally eaves dropped because they were so knowledgeable. Like I've mentioned before, the students I was with got in free with their passports. Italy recently passed a law for students to get in free if they are under 18. Highly recommend finding the works of the Masters...Michelangelo, Botticelli etc.... You will have to store your belongings in the "coat room" and no food or drink is allowed. Great shops for books on the different artists and museum.

The queuing experience - even with pre-booking through the hotel - wasted an hour. The wealth of masterpieces should have made the wait worthwhile, but the poor presentation and lack of explanatory detail detracted from our visit. The opportunity of viewing works by da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli and Caravaggio in a single afternoon shouldn't be passed up, but, to be honest, unless you have a real passion for religious Renaissance painting, 1.5 hours is more than enough to spend here! And, if you plan to visit with young children (under 10), be sure to take your iPad to keep them amused.....

The Uffizi Gallery is a gem. Lots to see but not too overwhelming. Book your reservation in advance to avoid massive lines.
