As with "David", do not wait until a week in advance to get tickets. There are no "hidden" tickets - either get them well in advance or don't go to Florence expecting to see this site. And we were there in October, not even the height of the season.

“Uffizi done quickly”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

Even though the guides tell you to spend days or at least a day here, I'm glad that we didn't go on a guided tour, they looked long and boring to me! I wanted to see this and am glad I did, but at my slightly faster pace (spent about 2 hours).

“Renaisance Art”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2013

We went there with our tour group from Gate1 Tours during our Enchanting Italy trip. At first we were not so sure if we would like it. I am so glad I decided to go. The tickets were purchased by the guide and he was simply superb. Later I learned that he was a retired professor of Art History. He showed us all the remarkable pieces and explained all the important things. This place is a must see.

“No cloakroom for coats”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2013

Good museum, we spent 6 hours. However, be aware that the museum does not have a cloakroom or lockers for your winter coats. They will keep your backpacks, but not coats.

We went in mid January. Did not queue or need pre-booked telephone tickets (thanks for the tip!) - however we did go at the unearthly opening hour, and it did get a little more crowded in the afternoon.

We used Rick Stein's free audiotour.

Tickets are free for disabled visitors + 1 companion.
