“A museum with a view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013 via mobile

If Uffizi was in France or UK, ticket would cost 20-30€. It is in Italy, and entrance is only 6,5€ (free under 18), plus 4€ if you buy advance via web (strongly recommended, you avoid hours of queue..).
The visit is breathtaking: you enter in the Italian Renaissance , and live the dream. Botticelli, Caravaggio, Michelangelo etc etc.
Plus, you are rewarded with a unique view of Pontevecchio from the back (see photo), what else ?

“Amazing painting and statues!”

Of course the everthing is amazing - my favorite was Botticellis room. However most of the painting are religious (expect of Botticellis) and start to look the same after a while.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

We enjoyed the Uffizi enormously, but it would have been worth the effort just for Michelangelo's statue of David. I had tried to view it 34 years earlier in the Louvre in Paris, where of course, it isn't! To enter the large hall and see David at the far end of it was breathtaking. I have seen many famous works of art but David takes the cake. It's not only is the immense size of the statue which takes your breath away but the detail. The veins in his hands and arms are so real looking you can almost see him breathing. The Uffizi is great but David is extraordinary, something else.

“Wonderful museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

The most important thing to do when planning a visit to the Uffizi Gallery is to have a reservation. This will make your visit much more enjoyable. The works of art and how they are presented is absolutely wonderful. There is a pretty interesting section towards the end with more modern works of art that must have been added in the past few years. Obviously don't miss the works of Giotto, Botticelli, and Michelangelo. Take your time when going through. There is so much amazing art to see.

“See paintings you have seen in books”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

we were on a shore excursion from our Mediterranean cruise, so we didn't see the entire museum. What we saw was very interesting and beautiful. It was rather crowded, but we had receivers with ear buds so we could hear our guide.
