Make an appointment or be prepared to wait in line. The number of tourists was disappointing the but museum was worth the wait = even with an appointment.

“Great art, horrible environment”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

First you have to make reservations in advance to avoid the long lines of people trying to enter without reservations. Then you have to wait in line to pick up your reserved tickets. Then you have to wait in another line to actually enter the gallery. Then you enter and discover that many of the pieces of art have extremely minimalistic descriptions, only in Italian (so you have to buy the guidebook or audio tour). As you walk on you then realize how stifling the environment is. Apparently, there's no air conditioning - just crowds of sweltering people and no air flow. We left after a short time and sat outside in the rain watching the stream of overheated people staggering out of the building.

Be warned the Ufizi is not a pleasant gallery to casually explore, but a trial that Dante could of conjured.

“You Could Spend Days in this Place!”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

I'm not particularly an art lover, but the guided tour we took in this museum was amazing. We were there for 4 hours and learned so much about Renaissance art! Don't miss it!

“Just Wonderful!”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

So many old masters, you could spend hours here. The crowds were a bit daunting so we bought an entrance ticket and came back a bit later-4.30, as we were staying so close this was no problem.
