Stopped by here for an afternoon lunch. I am a huge fan of the different types of soup you can find in Florence and was delighted to find that they had "Pasta e Fagioli" soup (1 medium sized plate, 6 euro). The atmosphere is friendly and the food is served by the cooks with smiling faces. There is an upstairs eating area where you can eat slightly away from the busy streets of the center. The soup was hot and delicious, with wonderful flavors swirling about. Beans were blended (not whole) and pasta was perfectly cooked. With such a depth of flavor (and such a steal!) the soup at Il Cernacchino really showed off the paradise that is Tuscan cooking.

The soup was one of the best my girlfriend has ever had and the meatball bowl was delicious. The portions were very generous too. Would highly recommend.

Pleasantly surprised! This is another "hole in the wall" café, with a super sweet staff and delicious food. Not too expensive either, you can get a great panini for 4/5€.

Really impressed. So close to the tourist sites but really cheap and a lot of food. Got a panini (for the Americans - this is not a hot toasted sandwich but rather just a sandwich) for 5€ but it was huge. Fresh made bread and great / plentiful toppings. Everything in the case looked good as well and the woman working the counter were very polite and friendly.

we stopped here for a fast little lunch. everything you get is served in plastic plates and cups, but it tastes fine and costs little. there are some small tables upstairs to sit. a fine place for a little lunch snack in the very touristic heart of the city.
