“Great advice to go here”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

My mom and I came here for dinner after getting the recommendation from hotel staff. We were so pleased with it! Very good house wine, wonderful caprese, wild boar, and fresh pasta stuffed with pears with Gorgonzola sauce. Would definitely eat here again!!

“An evening with pleasure”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Dining in Florence is not so easy. There are hundreds of restaurants, but many of them are not as good as they seem. La Martinicca was better. It was recommended by an hotel not far from Piazza Santa Maria Novella and it was just "due passi" to Via del Sole. There were just a few tables outside, but the evening was so plesant so we decided to sit there although the traffic. Crostini Fegatini (chicken liver) was a little too much for a starter, but very good. Saltimbocca alla Romana just perfect and a bottle of red wine á 18 euro the same. An evening with pleasure for two with 60 euro in total cost is very good in Florence.

“Nice spot for dinner”
Reviewed October 24, 2013 via mobile

We visited la Martinicca on September 26th, there were five in our dinner party. It is a small, charming place. For appetizer we sampled the chicken liver pate. It was very nice on a good crusty bread.
Among dinners, we tried steak with truffle cream sauce (very rich), veal with lemon sauce (very good), and truffle risotto (excellent). For desert we tried the chocolate fudge cake (good- not great), and Chantilly cake (out of this world).
Service was very attentive despite the restaurant filling up as we ate. The restaurant had both locals and tourists, due to its good location downtown.

“Tasty Tuscan dining”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

We were referred to this small restaurant near our hotel (Bristol) by the concierge. Ordered the Florentine beefsteak for 3, which was practically a roast size, grilled rarish. Was one of the best tasting steaks I've ever had, hands down. Kudos also to the pasta with shaved truffles. The older gentleman who was serving in the dining room shaved a generous serving of truffles on a simple pasta otherwise dressed in olive oil and butter--absolutely the best pasta we had in Italy. Nice red wine recommendation, all dishes were expertly prepared and quite reasonable for the high quality. Place was packed elbow to elbow with happy diners from all over the world, actually a nice experience, like dining with family. We loved this place!

“Good value”
Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

We saw good reviews of this restaurant so decided to try it on our first night in Florence. We walked in and made a reservation for after 7pm when they opened. The meals were good quality, well cooked, and good value. The risotto in particular was very good. If you have the Steak Florentine you may want to have it more medium than rare unless you like raw meat, but that is typical in Florence.
We wanted to eat there again 3 days later but didn't make a reservation. We were disappointef when we found they were fully booked so could not take us. It appears a reservation is s good idea
