My husband and I arrived at the Duomo apartments and found the entrance door to be locked, despite being advertised to be open from noon onwards. Finally the door was opened and our room was not yet ready. We were told to go have lunch and come back.
Once in the apartment, it looked nothing like the advertised pictures, had no view of anything, as the 'windows' were actually small air holes in the wall, and renovations were still being done throughout the building.
Whilst we could not hear the renovations going on, we certainly could hear the sound of ambulance sirens throughout the day and night whirring nonstop, as we were located right near the Florence hospital. In addition, the square in front of the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo) is a popular night hang out spot for the loud and rowdy youth of Florence.
Not a restful stay at all, and not worth the price.
