My boyfriend and I loved the food here so much that we visited this place TWICE - and we only spent 2 nights in Florence! It's super warm inside (much needed break from the cold outside) and the service was extremely attentive and efficient.
We had their vongole, carbonara, ravioli, mushroom zuppa and of course, their signature Florentine bistecca. The latter was absolutely fab - a must-try! Rich and buttery compared to US/Oz steak that's rather gamey with a slightly 'metallic' taste. The rest were also superb (the vongole... whoaaa!) but what we appreciated most were the portions - they were huge compared to other meals we had throughout Italy.
When we ordered the zuppa, I actually muttered that my boyfriend and I would be sharing it. I really didn't think the waiter would catch it, and I didn't read into it at all.
However, when they served us, we were surprised there were two bowls, one for each of us. I was about to open my mouth to say "We didn't order two portions" but the waitress kinda read my mind and said "This is one portion to share." Before this, I hadn't experienced such good service, even back home... sweet!
On our second and final visit, the manager (I'm assuming so) gave us a little treat - some packed biscotti. He didn't explain or say anything, but he wasn't doing the same for other tables so I guess it must've been a thank-you thing. I thought it was really nice of him!
Prices here are standard and reasonable, like 10 euros for pasta, 20+ euros for the bistecca. You basically pay normal prices for above average food and service so why not give this place a go if you're in the area?
