Back in August 2019, my father and I planned a spontaneous week-long trip to Italy and it was the best trip I've ever been on. This excursion is a large part of the reason why.
My father and I treat vacation like an adventure; we prefer to do new things every day and see as much as possible. Over the course of our 5-day trip, we saw 10 different locations throughout Northern and Southern Italy... but none were as spectacular as the trip to Cinque Terre.
I was looking through TripAdvisor for fun excursions, and my father and I had already listed Vesuvius, Rome and Florence as places we wanted to see. We had one day to spare, and I came across this excursion on one of my last days of research. The previous reviews made us take a leap of faith and they did not disappoint.
Sara, our guide, took us through 5 of the beautiful, seaside towns of Cinque Terre. From pastel-colored paint on as much as 8-story houses to the terraces ascending the sides of coastal cliffs, this place was absolutely breathtaking. Experiencing this trip on foot was phenomenal and not a burden at all on my father nor I (I was 22 years old at the time, he was 58). Sara was an entertaining personality in addition to having a deep historical knowledge of the subject matter of the hike. She helped make this trip memorable - if you're reading this, thank you Sara! :)
I find it challenging to describe every step of the hike in detail, so I'll let you experience that in person. Please enjoy the photo's I've attached - they can't do this place justice but it'll give you a small glimpse. If you decide to go, rest assured you will not regret this trip!
