The rabbit here is delicious, well worth trying! We also very much enjoyed the peas, which were tender, sweet and flavored with prosciutto.

Trattoria Da Sergio is a small, homey place with excellent, friendly service. Our server was a charming young woman who spoke English.

Dinner for two, including a carafe of the excellent house red wine (but not dessert — we were stuffed) cost 50 EU. The restroom was very clean.

We met another American couple who were staying in the neighborhood and had come back for a dinner a second night because everything was so good.

If you are lucky enough to venture into Oltrarno, this would be a good choice for some simple home-cooked food.

We were lucky enough to be here with porcini in season and tucked into the massive display of these mushrooms proudly displayed in the centre of the restaurant. Great to see the ingredients on display and to see how fresh they were.

Friendly service from what appears to be a family affair, certainly enough English spoken here to look after most queries and explain the menus.

I felt priviliged as a tourist to dine here and take in the atmosphere of the well dressed Florentines enjoying their Friday night out in their neighbourhood restaurant.

The food was excellent and not expensive. Good size portions, pastas and tripe were delicious. Atmosphere was lively and the staff were friendly. The only down side was below the average espresso, but I would happily eat here again.

We were staying around the corner from this place in an apartment and it was recommended as somewhere to go for a florentine meal. We also noted that it was rated pretty highly on trip advisor. The staff were lovely and took very good care of us. The food was excellent also and they had an English menu which we are always grateful for when only knowing very limited Italian. We shared the short pasta to start, which was lovely but probably not needed as we struggled through the main of florentine steak, at a whopping 1.3kg, and sides consisting of a zucchini dish and a potato dish. The potato dish was extremely lovely. Well worth the visit and would recommend this place easily. May want to book though as we were lucky and we did notice that people did get turned away.

Via Rick Steeves... It was a great spot... Off the beaten path, but only 10 minute walk from Ponte V... A small, eclectic, family run spot... Sergio was working the room - warm, friendly guy that looks like a biker... We started with crostini, which at last had some flavor - the bruschetta had some spice and seasoning!!! Not just chopped tomato on cold, soft bread... We had the Carbonara as prima, which was w/ spinach pasta and was very, very flavorable with nice big chunks of bacon - top 2 Carbonaras in all of Italy after 3 weeks here... We ventured forward with the fried chicked not knowing what was coming and we got a cute little basket of fried chicken, and veggies - it was full of flavor and different... We had a 2006 Brunello and the whole meal was $65 all in... Pretty good...! Finally something interesting and different in Florence...!!!
