“Perfect for a romantic stay!”
Reviewed April 6, 2012

Beautifully decorated, jacuzzi in the room, viee to Arno river. Very romantic. Delicious breakfast. Very good restaurant, a little bit expensive comparing to options in the city center however it is fair considering the service and beautiful dinning room. Free shuttle to city center leaves in the morning and get back around 5 PM so you can enjoy the city without worring about parking (in Florence you get a ticket if you enter in the city center with your car). Hotel has complimentary parking.

The hotel itself is on the outskirts of Florence, and we would advise if driving using a sat nav, that it is a bit of a mare to find! The Sat nav won't find number 119 Via Villamagna, so we tried 118 hoping it might tak us next door and we would be able to see the hotel, WRONG! ....the road actually runs in 2 directions, the left hand side is like an industrial water works and not much else and once your on it it's a one way street, and then to the right you drive quite a long way, through a little village, and tiny walled roads before finally seeing signs to the hotel. We made the kistake of turning left several times and driving round in circles!! Might be worth printing directions off Google maps, and following them if your driving there. Once we reached the hotel we were greeted by such a warm welcome, friendly and helpful service, the receptionist said the hotel is reasonably new which may account for the sat navs confusion. The hotel and rooms have been decorated in traditional Florentine style, and the view of the river from our window was breath taking. The rooms are spacious, traditionally furnished with an amazing spa shower. The staff are welcoming and accomodating, and they actually have a bell boy which is a first in our experience of Italian hotels. Take advantage of the free hotel shuttle bus in to the town if you can! We dined at the hotel restaurant, and my husband said the steak was the best he has ever had, and my tuscan bean soup was delicious, compliments to the chef as the service, quality, and taste, of our meal was just outstanding! Only wish we could have stayed longer than just 1 night!

Dear guest,

we really thank you for you kind words and we are sorry for the trouble in finding the Hotel.
This is our second year and many things are changed in the streets around the area in this last months (one ways, signs, etc.) so we hope the next GPS upgrade will include them so that will be easier to find us.

Will be happy to have you as guest again now that you know the street.
Thank you

Was there in Dec 2011 for my honeymoon. The hotel is BEAUTIFUL! The room was awesome and the food at the restaurant was amazing. You have to try the Tuscany Soup and the Florentine Steak! The restaurant manager Franco is very friendly and provides top notch service!

If you are considering staying at the Hotel Mulino di Firenze, don't wait another minute...just book your room! To say that we were delighted with our experience is a gross under-statement. The owners, the Lotti family, poured their very Italian hearts and souls into the remaking of this 15th Century mill on the banks of the Arno. It oozes charm (the pictures are good, but it can't capture it all, frankly), is located on a beautiful stretch of the river, really in a very isolated and quiet area, AND has a terrific, friendly and wonderful staff to match. We stayed in the fantastic room 202 (large, with a massive window over lookng the pool, the grounds and the Arno) for nine nights, and made the Mulino our second home in Tuscany in the process.

We arrived home to Los Angeles last night (March 28, 2012) and we wanted to express our appreciation to the management and staff of the hotel through this public thank-you.

Another bonus is the excellent restaurant on the premises which is separately managed, with a top-notch highly trained Tuscan chef. We ate there three of the nights, and were not disappointed. Additionally, the breakfast served every morning was outstanding, with a vast array of freshly made baked goods, cheeses, eggs, meats, fruits and vegetables. The staff made coffee to order (lattes, cappucinos too!), and were at our sides at a moment's notice. The back of the restaurant has a wall of glass french doors which face the Arno - just a beautiful way to start each day.

Much has been written about the shuttles - they work just fine. Just make sure to reserve your spot the night before.

If you are renting a car to explore Tuscany, this is an ideal launching point, as you are just a few minutes away from the Autostrade. AND, there is a free HUGE covered garage adjacent to the property. If you are into bike riding, take advantage of the free mountain bikes that are available to guests. The area is flat, so one can ride along the Arno or even into town, if you wish.

My wife and I are fairly well traveled, in our 50's, and have stayed in many four star hotels throughout the world. This one takes the cake. We are already planning our return trip to the Mulino, perhaps next Spring.

A special shout-out to Franco, Aldo and Ray in the restaurant - they were wonderful and warm hosts who we looked forward to seeing every morning and evening. They went our of their way to make suggestions and recommendations for our various trips both within and outside of Florence. The reception staff were quite helpful as well. Bravo to all! We hope to see you soon. Mille Grazi - Ciao! David and Elizabeth

Room Tip: I'd stay in 202, 203 or 204, if possible. They all overlook the Arno, are quite large and are e...

Rhys Parker My wife and I stayed at the beautiful Mulino Di Firenze in March 2012 and our experience of the hotel, staff and restaurant was that it is incredible. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. The restaurant makes its own pasta and bread that it served in the outstanding value for money restaurant. The city centre is 15 mins away and the hotel provides a free shuttle service to and from the hotel so it does not make it an inconvenience. The cost of a taxi to or from the Duomo is roughly €15. I will definitely be returning to this hotel even if it's just to use the jacuzzi bath in the en-suite rooms. 10 out of 10.

The hotel is in a very odd location and is quite difficult to find. However, the hotel is really lovely and overlooks the river. The hotel provides a free shuttle bus to the city at 10:00 a.m. and at 1:00 p.m. and return to the hotel at 5:30 p.m. Since we stayed in the city later than 5:30, we returned to our hotel by bus (the #23b bus, which is at the far end of the train station). This bus runs about every 20 or 30 minutes. I'm only giving these details, since it took us about 30 minutes to find the correct bus stop. Bus 23, 23a and 23b are not at the same bus stop.

The hotel restaurant is excellent. We had dinner at the restaurant every night for our three night stay. The service was excellent. Aldo gave us suggestions on where to go to see different Tuscan towns. We followed his plan exactly and we saw beautiful places we wouldn't have considered visiting. Breakfast was also outstanding.

The room was small, but very comfortable. The shower was the best shower I have ever seen in a hotel. It was a jacuzzi shower with a million settings.

My only complaints are that the wi-fi didn't work during our visit and the shower curtain in the bathroom was very sheer and there were no shutters on the windows. The lack of internet was somewhat of a problem, since we planned our trip as we traveled and booked all our rooms online. When we had to use the bathroom at night, we felt exposed, since our room faced other rooms and the sidewalk along the river where people took strolls.

I went on my honeymoon and picked this charming hotel due its location (just outside the center of Florence). I knew it was going to be hot in Italy during May so mad sure each of our hotels had a pool to escape the humidity. When we arrived and only after we checked in did we realise that the pool was empty and was undergoing a refurbishment. To top it off the air-con in the room was set not to go below a certain temp and fan speed controlled.
the restaurant was lovely and friendly service at the bar kept me from being to hostile but left after one day as was too hot. They were happy to cancel but charged me for the extra day and night on the day of departure which is normally understandable if you leave early as cannot get anyone in for that night at such late notice but I did feel that they should not have due to not informing us of the fact that there would be no pool for the duration of our stay. Poor and although beautiful location would be nervous to go here again due to misleading information and lack of accountability,.

Room Tip: River side and with view, size is small but normal in Italy. Check Pool!!

Dear Guest,

You are right, last year our pool was not ready in early May. It is indicated and advertised we open our pool only on from May 15th onwards since it's not heated.

Anyway we are sorry for the misunderstanding and the inconvenience caused. I can see from your reviews you were moved to our sister hotel Villa Olmi Resort and had a nice stay there (you rated it 5 stars). So...we hope to have been helpful.

Best regards
