My husband and I booked a one-day tour online after arriving in Florence. The emailed instructions on where to meet were clear and easy to follow. There were 6 of us, with Swedish-born Aasa as our guide. Aasa engagingly shared her knowledge while expertly navigating the roads and lanes through the beautiful Tuscan countryside. At our first stop in Chianti she took us into the vineyard then through the winery to explain all stages of production before introducing the tasting of five wines, three olive oils and a platter of local cheeses and preserves. Other stops were at Padona for lunch at the 'Crazy Butcher'; a small family-run organically grown vineyard in the Chianti Classico region, where we tasted three of their wines under the guidance of co-owner Jackie; and the village of Greve in Chianti. Altogether a delightful and informative day

My husband and I booked this tour with Pierre as our guide. We found it to be a leisurely paced day traveling throughout beautiful countryside.

As others noted, this experience walks you through the process of growing the grapes, harvesting, and on to turning it into wine. This was our second wine tour in Chianti and Chianti Classico, and we found Pierre's exhaustive understanding of the industry and art of wine crafting to be exceptional. The other tour (ArtViva) was through a similar region, but offered no new learning for an experienced foodie. This tour, however, absolutely added the nuance and historical perspective, as well as the philosophy of their terroir. Certainly all experience levels would enjoy this; it was casual without being careless, informative without being patronizing.

My husband and I did the 'Tuscan Wine Time' half day tour. It started with an hour introductory session at the wine school, before a minibus ride (with two photo stops) to the Montecchio Fattoria. Here they make wines, olive oil, pecorino cheese and honey. The guide for the 1 hour intro was informative, and the guide at the fattoria was very interesting and knowledgeable. We had a great time learning about the processes involved in wine and oil production (I thought I knew a lot, but a lot of things are done very differently in Tuscany)... The food served is plentiful, a lot more than I was expecting, and you get to try decent glasses of a number of wines. The cheese and honey combination is simply heavenly - definitely don't be too scared to try that one!

If you are expecting 6 hours of drinking solid (like the wine tours we do...frequently...in Australia) then this may not be what you are after. But if you want an educational day in addition to a hearty meal and ample wine intake without writing your afternoon off, then definitely give this a go.

There is no pressure at all to buy from the winery, but if you want to they are happy to arrange shipment worldwide. We are travelling on, and plan to do some online ordering once we are home.

We did a wine tour with this company and we spent a beautiful day in the coutryside drinking red wine and having lunch in a Butcher shop, really fun.
The tour is very informative and rich in details about the wine industry, but you learn also how to drink the wine properly!
Pierre the tour guide is an expert wine guide, he moved to live to Tuscany years ago from France and speaks good English
We think that the tour was well organised and with a lot of information
It is a good choice if you have more days to spend in Florence.

My husband and I did this wine tour the last full day of our 3 week honeymoon and it did not disappoint us at all! In fact, it was a welcomed respite from so many historical sites and museums. We were fortunate enough to have Rebecca, the owner of the company, as our tour guide and she was wonderful.

The tour starts with a drive out of Florence where she gave us the local history about wine and wine making and taught us about the two regions we were going to visit, Chianti and Chianti Classico. At the first winery, Il Corzano, we had a very detailed tour on how they make the wine. We then walked by their cheese making room and were invited inside. It was amazing to have a tour of their little cheese room because I love any and all cheese. The tasting followed and we tried one white and 3 reds, and we got to taste 5 cheeses, 3 olive oils, and some delicious chutneys. Then we headed to lunch at a local butcher and were served lots of yummy meat dishes and more wine. Lastly, we went to a very small vineyard called Montecalvi and we got to taste wine with the winemaker’s wife, who was very knowledgeable. We were literally sitting in her backyard at a table overlooking the beautiful Tuscan countryside as she poured us 3 options. Then we stopped in a local town for a quick break before heading back to Florence. We bought 3 wines and 4 olive oils, and we utilized Rebecca to ship them back for us.

I also must add that we are from California, very close to Napa, and wine tasting usually includes 5-6 wineries. Before going, we thought we would have liked to taste at more wineries but trust me, 2 was enough. You are poured plenty of delicious wine and given so much interesting information. It is a very personal experience. Yes, I can understand it is expensive but it is well worth the money. Go! You will love it.
