“Charming, quiet, comfortable, clean retreat / wonderful hosts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012

I have worked in the airline industry for 34 years. The minute we stepped off the #12 bus to spy our lodging up a short cool lane with a tree-covered hillside directly behind it, we knew we just might have found our dream B&B. The moment our host, Roggero met us at the door and ushered us into the open feeling reception/ dining rooms overlooking Florence and then showed us to our clean, well-decorated, and refreshing bedroom I knew it was going to be a great 3-day stay. The bathroom, beds, linens, breakfast, quiet and comfortable setting allowed my wife, Teri and I to feel very much well cared for. I do not know how anything could have been better presented. As we then met Tiziana we realized Il Palagetto was a labor of love for both of them. We wondered how something this nice, price sensitive and easy could feel so far from the crowds of Florence while being within a pleasant walk or short bus ride across the Arno river to the city center. I'm bookmarking Il Palagetto and sending the link to all our fellow airline employed friends.

We spent 4 nights in Florence recently at Il palagetto. It was one of the best places on our trip in Italy. Ruggero was a great host with freshly prepared cappuccino , warm boiled eggs and lots of other choices for continental breakfast. The location was 5 minutes to the bus stop but very quiet . The breakfast room was also a living room for relaxing any time of day. Ruggero even put a basket of take along food for us in our room the night before we left on a very early morning flight. He was a very gracious host!.

We stayed for 3 nights at Il Palagetto in mid-Oct during our visit to Firenze. Both Tiziana and Ruggero are excellent hosts - friendly and accommodating (we had a change in arrival time and gave a day's notice ahead on change). Was assigned a spacious room [Ginko] with a surpisingly large attached bathroom. Breakfast was great and we ate to our hearts' content! In terms of location, there are direct buses within a stone's throw-away to get to Firenze city centre and the SMN train station (eg. to catch a train to Pisa).

As the other reviewers say, this place is exquisitely decorated in a quiet location that is out of the centre of Florence but still easy to access by a walking or short bus ride. We stayed for three nights in the Rosa room which was right next to the shared bathroom, but apparently too far away to get wifi. We needed to use the internet to book our Tuscany tour and museum tickets as well as hotels for future destinations on our European tour. So we browsed the internet on our laptop in the communal lounge. Then part way through booking our Academia Gallery ticket for the next day, the internet just cut out - never to come back on again until the owner arrived thenext morning. For the rest of the stay, the internet reception was off and on and very weak. So we gave up and used wifi in city cafes. The owner was also not very helpful in recommending tours and his English was very basic. The breakfast was however, delicious and the kitchen staff were very friendly. For price, comfort and location, this place is fantastic, but if you rely in Internet for your travels, plan to use wifi available in many cafes and bars throughout Florence.

Room Tip: Rosa room is right next the shared bathroom - that is shared by 2 other rooms.

Dear Guest,
we would like to thank you very much for kind remarks about our b&b: it has been a great pleasure for us having you as our guest as well as we are really happy that you appreciated both rooms and our breakfast!
In the name of love for job we would like also to make some clarifications:
We specified during your check-in that our house is very ancient and some walls, really thick, may cause some problems to receive the wi-fi signal in some bedrooms, while in the living room the wi-fi is always perfect. Another variable may be the guest pc: your computer had some setting problem as regards to wi-fi set up and we couldn’t solve this specific problem, unlikely. In any case our portable pc (as well as our printer) is always available for our guest for the whole time of your stay. Our living room is a perfect place where you can relax, use pc, read a book or hearing to good music!
I’m very sorry that you evaluated my English basic….I’m qualified to American Istitute of Florence and even if I believe that everything can be improved in life, I think that my English level can be defined as “good”. Obviously I don’t know the Australian slang ! I really apologize if is this caused you some problems….we work very hard to make our guest happy, relaxed and satisfied!
We really wait for you again in Florence that offer so many treasures still to be discovered!
Kindest regards
Ruggero

We just returned to Michigan from a great 2 week trip to Italy. Our second stop was Florence, where we had a great and memorable stay at Il Palagetto Guest House. Having made the agenda and picking the places we stayed, the info on their web site was dead on. I had my wife and 7 other family members who were counting on me to make the right decisions. Tlziana and Ruggero were excellent hosts and made sure our stay was everything we hoped it would be. They're "welcoming" party of food and wine was a great introduction to Florence. Every day we woke up to a breakfast spread that exceeded our expectations, again 'thank you' Ruggero!! A short walk up the road gave us a breathtaking view of Florence.

We have loved our stay in the Palagetto Guest house. It is located in a very quiet street, relatively close to many good but not expensive restaurants. Everything in the house was very clean. The attention to the details is in every corner of the whole house. The owner and staff were helpful and friendly. The coffee break was good as well. The bedroom we stayed is very comfortable and the decoration is beautiful.

We loved our stay here. Excellent room and location close to bus lines. Breakfast every morning was wonderful. We never met the owner as she was away at a wedding, but she had a college age girl, who was very proficient in running the place there. Marta was wonderful as she spoke very good English and gave us a lot of useful information about Florence and how to get around. The whole guest house was beautiful as was our room and bathroom....every convenience. I highly recommend this B&B.

Room Tip: We had the room across from the breakfast area with en suite bathroom. Very nice and quiet as it is...
