We were very pleasantly surprised by the grandeur of the Hotel Palazzo Guadagni. Although it is only less than a 10 minute walk to the centre of the city the hotel is in a lovely neighbourhood with cafes, bars and restaurants all of a high standard. The room in our hotel was very comfortable with a view of the city. Wooden beams on the ceiling and comfortable antique furniture.

The staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a quiet and tranquil atmosphere which offsets the buzz of the city. We enjoyed having an aperitivi on the loggia before dinner watching the sunset. We would certainly book again.

We stayed in this lovely hotel for three nights for our honeymoon and had a great time!!
The room was excellent with a lovely balcony in a busy and fun neighborhood, we stayed in the Gold Room. Excellent location in Piazza Santo Sprito that was outside of thebustling downtown but an easy walk to everything. The dining surrounding the hotel was not "touristy" and therefore food was more about quality versus quantity. We loved Osteria Santo Sprito (across from hotel) and Osteria Gusto (one block to the left).

Service at the hotel was top notch with knowledgeable staff who were able to assist with anything we needed. We felt quite at home and had no complaints. Breakfast was all we needed and food was well made and always available. We cannot wait to come again and stay at this hotel. We loved Florence and our experience here, enhanced by the wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: Gold Room was beautiful with a lovely ceiling, lots of space and a balcony overlooking the Piazza.

I was in Florence the year before I stayed here and personally visited 8 hotels including this one to decide where I would of stayed on my next trip.

I picked Palazzo Guadagni because it was in the best neighbourhood of Florence (piazza santo spirito), it had a ton of cafes outside the door, the value is excellent in pricey Florence -- and above all -- it is a beautiful space.

This is a renovated 15th century palace and the interior of the hotel has an elegant breakfast room, frescoes on the ceiling, an incredible "loggia" (a huge wrap around covered patio), and all the rooms had something different yet charming (yes I viewed them all!); tubs, a view of the duomo from your bed, billowing curtains framing terracotta rooftops etc.

I loved this hotel so much that I would definitely stay here the next time I'm in Florence and I've already recommended it to many people. I organize group trips in Italy and would have no hesitation bringing my guests back here again as well.

One last thing -- anywhere can be beautiful, but not all hotels have awesome people at the front desk. I felt the staff here really went out of their way -- even helped us call the airline with lost baggage. In short, they offered professional service you would expect from a five star hotel but without the five star price tag.

Hope I've been helpful.

My husband and I spent 2 nights here during our honeymoon. The hotel is located in Piazza San Spirito which has markets by day and becomes a popular local hangout in the square at night. There is a great little bar called Volume in the square that I would recommend as well for after dinner drinks. It is on the other side of the river from the main attractions but the walk is not far at all - less than 10 minutes to the Ponte Vecchio. Our room was huge as well as our bathroom and we had a great view of the Pitti Palace. It was on the top floor however, so it was a bit tricky managing our luggage but it was worth it for the peace and quiet at night. Best breakfast we had in Italy, very plentiful and more than just a pastry and coffee! Even better when you can enjoy it on their amazing wrap around terrace which also gives you a great view of Florence.

Room Tip: We had room 7, it was huge in comparison to European standards and the bathroom was large as well. It is a few flights up from reception and located at the back of the hotel so it is alot quieter. We enjoyed it!

We found this hotel recommended in the Daily Telegraph, and were not disappointed, it is on the "other " side of the river and as such is not overrun with tourists.Placed on a small piazza with a splendid church and several very good eating spots. It can be a little noisy,(the hotel thoughtfully supplies earplugs!). But after a day or so one gets used to it. There is a small market most mornings, which sets up quite early, and the locals gather at night and chat until 12 to 1 am. The shutters on the splendid rooms are quite efficient and reduce it to a reasonable level, the beds are roomy and very comfortable, and we had a settee, mini bar and two huge wardrobes withan amazing painted ceiling . The hotel occupies the top floor with an impressive terrace looking towards the Duomo and the main tourist areas. The Pitti Palace is 5 mins stroll with the Ponte Vecchio a mere 2 minutes further. The staff were charming and helpful with a pleasantly laid back attitude and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were comprehensive and the small bar could produce a drink or coffee at the drop of a hat. We are happy to recommend it and can see why it achieves the high ratings.

Room Tip: There is a set of 3 separate bedrooms rooms on the first floor where we stayed which is half way up to the hotel, served by a lift. This has no visitors other than the room's occupants. It means a short lift ride up to the hotel but we like it.
