“Palazzo Guadagni”

A little bit out of the centre but not really a problem. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were delicious! We had to drag our cases 100 metres as the taxi could not get any closer due to roadworks, but they didn't seem to do any work on any of the four days we were there (Domani will do, perhaps!)

We arrived to Hotel Palazzo Guadagni to be greeted by the most friendly and professional staff. The room was clean and just the right size. The views were great, the breakfast delicious. The hotel was quiet. We were located at a perfect plaza that seemed to be the place the locals frequented. Close to great restaurants, a quick walk to the sites, a market on certain Sundays of the month, and an all around great adventure. Hands down, next time in Florence we'll revisit!

We travelled from Pisa airport really easily by train which cost just a few euro's each to the Santa Maria Novella train station in the centre of Florence. We then took a taxi from outside the train station to the hotel. The entire journey took approximately an hour. We found the hotel easy to locate despite being dropped around the block by the taxi as roadworks were in place. The building where the hotel is located is part residential and the remainder the hotel. We have stayed in a similar hotel in Rome and quite like this arrangement. We were greeted warmly and given lots of information. We had asked for a room with a view and certainly got this. The room overlooked Florence and the Basilica Di Santa Maria del Fiore was framed by the bathroom window. All the furnishings are antique but are well kept. The bathroom was quite small and the downside was the bathroom window does not open so it was very hot once the shower had been used. The hotel was a ten minute walk across the Ponte Vecchio and is a really nice walk. Everything is within easy reach of the hotel. Our first night in the hotel was uncomfortable due to the very unsupportive metal frame bed that groaned each time you moved. The next morning we spoke to Rita and asked if the bed could be changed. Unfortunately this was not possible and the hotel was fully booked but Rita willingly agreed to move us the following morning. We were moved to a very beautiful large room with a frescoed ceiling and a bathroom almost as large as the previous room. This bed had a new comfortable divan, the only downside was the lack of a view. We were undisturbed by any noise outside in either room and earplugs should you need them are free for use in the room. The room was clean and bright and the bathroom had more modern fittings. Breakfast each morning was pleasant with a good choice each morning and endless supplies of coffee. The loggia is a lovely place to sit. The area is residential and is lively but friendly. We ate out in the city centre each night as the local restaurants were full each night. We visited the Ufizzi Gallery and queued for an hour from 8.30 am, the gallery is of course huge and you could spend a whole day there. A walk to the Piazzale Michelangelo is well worth it for the view and the if you like gardens the Bardini Gardens are more beautiful than Bobolink. The Rose Garden at the bottom of the Piazzale Michelangelo is a lovely place to stop. The Pitti Palace, Palazzo Vecchio are worth visiting and we did not experience queues to enter at either one. There is plenty to do and see in Florence and we managed to see everything in three days. We spent our final day in Pisa which is worth visiting to spend the day in the Piazza dei Miracoli. Florence is a beautiful city and we would certainly consider staying at the Palazzo Guadagni if we visited again.

Room Tip: Room 11 is beautiful and worth sacrificing a view for.

The hotel was located a perfect walking distance to the Duomo and the rest of the city. The balcony/terrace was amazing. It was a great place to relax in the early afternoon and watch the world pass by. I had a room on the second level of the hotel and it was great. The bed was comfortable and room was quiet during my stay. I enjoyed the breakfast. I would stay here again.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but our room was truly palatial (Room 1), immense by any measure. The room held the comfy kingsize bed, two night-stands, a huge armoire, dresser, desk, dressing table and love seat in a room so big that it seemed under-furnished, especially given the 20+ ft high decoreated ceilings. Balcony window afforded great views of the hopping piazza. Though on weekends the action continues to nearly 2 a.m. the multi-layered window shutters keeps the noise out and the AC keeps the room pleasant. Ideal location--nearest some of the best restaurants in town incuding the creative and hip varieties. Close to the Petti Palace and two minutes to Ponte Vecchio for a short walk to where the city center action is. As mentioned by others, the terrace was a relaxing bonus. My brother and his wife also had a large but not palatial room. They suffered a leaking air conditioner which couldn't be repaired until Monday morning as the staff tried to be as helpful as possible in the interim.

We had a lovely stay at Palazzo Guadagni. Everything - from the building to the location to the staff - was really fantastic. The building the hotel is housed is in beautiful and atmospheric, the hotel itself has a gorgeous balcony overlooking the Piazza. The Piazza itself has three delicious restaurants on it and is a great place to have a drink afterwards. On one night we wanted to go somewhere a bit smarter and the hotel recommended an absolutely delicious place just down the road, we were so happy with it.
In terms of the rooms, the rooms on the first floor are grander but the rooms on the top floor have better views and are quieter. We were actually given a choice of the two options when we arrived and we opted for the latter as the room was still lovely, if slightly less grand, and we had a gorgeous view of the Palazzo Pitti that we could see from our bed and no-one could look into our window. The bathroom was luxuriously fitted out as well which is always nice.
The staff were also really great. Perfect English and incredibly helpful and friendly. We will definitely come back here when we come to Florence and recommend it to our friends.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floor may be less grand but they have much better views from what we saw.

Our initial impression of the hotel was positive . On checkin veronica the receptionist showed us to a room behind the kitchen and next to the dining area . It was not what we had in mind and she allocated a superior room in the quieter section of the hotel . Given we were paying for a superior room to start with...... this room was far better . For the last 2 nights we were given another room ,except this room had the bathroom sink in the room !

Breakfast was good , and the terrace great for relaxing after the day walking the city . The church bells were lovely in the afternoons

A special mention to Rita who was our friendly housekeeper and a expert in laundry ! ( she likes aussies ) :)

Café Richii outside the hotel became our preferred eating venue , serving excellent pizza and
insalata .

Room Tip: make sure you get the room allocation you paid for
