“Living like royalty in history”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

Truly warm and friendly host Daniela and her staff made us feel special - especially my 9 yo daughter. It was magical staying here.

We stayed in their luxury suite which is an unbelievably large 120 m2 with frescoed high ceilings dating back to 1695. It is modernised with comfortable bedding (4 poster bed!) and a 2 person jacuzzi. The suite was much better than the photos we saw when booking. Wifi free and fine. Complimentary wine and snacks provided.

Stay here if you:
1. want to stay in a very special place that you will never forget.
2. love history and appreciate the beauty of art and architecture going back more than 300 years.
3. enjoy the friendliness of a wonderfully gracious hostess

I only saw one of their other rooms, a deluxe room also with high frescoed ceilings. That room was also very special. They have apartments and other rooms, so if would be wise to check when you book which type of room you are getting as I understand they are all a bit different.

Location is fabulous, just near the Accademia where David awaits, and a few steps (~5 min) from the Duomo of Florence. It is ~10 min walk from the main train station, but remember that Florence is old and the roads are cobblestone so harsh on luggage wheels. Ponte Vecchio (the famous bridge) is ~15-20 min walk south including looking at sights along the way. - Florence is not big!

If you are going to stay in Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, why not stay in a Renaissance palace?

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms and reception are tastefully decorated. The location is fantastic...within walking distance of the main markets, shopping, the duomo, piazzas and about 10 mins walk from Ponte Vecchio. We had a family room which was a double bed with a sofa bed for the kids and one bathroom. It was room enough for a night or two. The shower needed fixing. There is no restaurant or room service, but lots of restaurants nearby and breakfast is included at ZaZa which was small but fine. Overall I would recommend this place for friendly service, lovely decor and a central location.

Palazzo Tolomei is the most unique hotel ever - tastefully decorated with the finest and most beautiful furniture. Makes you feel like you're living in a palace. Daniela is the warmest host I've ever met. They serve free finger food at the hotel lobby every day - on some days there are cakes which taste divine! On departure they even gave us a handmade gift!10 stars for service. Location is great too.

Excellent rooms with Palace style deco, was here with my sister and her husband visiting from the US and we where all amaze. The space we had for 3 people, and the ambiance.
The owner and the lady working was great, very friendly and accomodating. Good location and walking distance to everything. you could just imagine what it was like in the renaissance times. if your in Florence its worth staying here.

This place was among the available hotels listed in the RegalONE voucher I got for my birthday. Frankly speaking, the room's picture in the voucher booklet was not very attractive, but the location of the hotel (and the excellent reviews in tripadvisor) made us decide for it... furthermore, since there were no more standard rooms available at reservation time, we payed an extra an got a room upgrade, therefore I cannot say anything about standard rooms included in the voucher. Anyway, the place is really amazing! First, it is very close to Florence main touristic attractions (less than 15 minutes walk to the train station, the dome, the baptistery, the old bridge...). Second, the ladies that run the place are extremely kind, and available to satisfy your requests. Third, an most important, the palace is beautiful! Our room was incredible: wide, with wooden floor, four-poster bed, ceiling painted with a fresco of '500, table with expresso machine, fridge with cold beverages (included) and excellent red wine (extra)... In one word: excellent!
The only drawback, if you wanna find one, is that the place does not have a kitchen, so that breakfast is provided by a nearby restaurant (without any extra cost), though coffee and sweets are also available in the lodge of the palace.

In short, an excellent place that I warmly recommend if you want to really experience Florence, rather than just sleeping in it!

Room Tip: The room with the four-poster bed is very nice and romantic, if you are looking for something of thi...

My husband and I arrived at the Palazzo Tolomei and from the time we entered the palace to the time we left was so beautiful. Daniela is a unique and caring soul who treats everybody like family and this was also felt with her staff. My husband was unwell when we arrived and without hesitation she was on her bike down to the chemist to get him antibotics. She suggested some wonderful restaurants to eat that were not your typical tourist ones. The room had great ambience and a calming feel. We both were sad to go as we could of had another week at least. We have decided to return to Palazzo Tolomei as this was one of our most memorable times in Europe.

The beauty of this palace, the wonderful welcome, the private but regal approach from the street as one processes to the rooms plus the fun cafe where breakfast is served all create a unique experience so much better than any regular hotel can offer.

A charming , ancient palace full of fresco wall and ceiling paintings some dating back 500 years. The faded grandeur is more than compensated by the extremely helpful staff and owner who can't do enough. Numerous very spacious and elegant reception rooms with books and music provided lead to the rooms and the 100. M2 bedroom suite we had for 4 nights. A little strangely furnished and not the best bathroom but extraordinary with a vaulted painted ceiling made for a former owner's wife as a wedding present. Just right as our honeymoon suite!

The hotel is very centrally located within a short walk of most attractions, but still remains calm and peaceful at night.

We would definitely stay here again!
