Let's start with the fact that the rooms are comfortable. Air conditioning, good bed linen, quality mattresses, silence .. Many tiny details .. An excellent set of guidebooks for tourists about the city in all languages, and non-stop coffee. Typical local drinks and sweet cake. All this for you .. Friendly, memorable owner of the hotel. But the most important urban atmosphere of the palace, frescoes, stucco and sculptures...

My wife and i stayed in this hotel for a few nights in june 2013, we were overwhelmed with hospitality and kindness. I am sure you can see from the pictures, and they don't do the place proper justice, that this a magical place, steeped in history and covered in beautiful frescoes and period architecture. We knew we were heading to a fantastic historic residence, but what we could not have predicted is the amazing hospitality Daniela and Chiara provided. you can expect to receive the best tips for traveling through florence as well as attentive help to get reservations at great local dining establishments and museums. Overall if you prefer the intrigue of historic residences and the authenticity of staying in a real palace over the drull of a typical hotel i think this place will be fantastic for you...

My mum and I were actually supposed to stay at another apartment owned by this hotel but by a stroke of pure luck there was a problem with the plumbing and we were upgraded to this magical palace. On arrival, which is a 2 minute taxi ride away from the train station, we were greeted by Daniela and Chiara - two beautiful italian ladies who showed us around. Chiara speaks fluent English so it was really nice to be able to communicate so easily, however Daniela is so kind and warm hearted it really doesn't matter! We were actually given the choice out of the 2 apartments and went with the one that had the wifi.

Our apartment had 3 bedrooms - sleeping 7. I also have a feeling that the couch turned into a double bed too! The kitchen was big and easy to use. The bathroom was also huge but I definitely missed having a bath but I'm learning that baths aren't very italian!

Chiara also booked us a beautiful Tuscan winery tour that was everything we imagined and more! On arrival she was lovely enough to sit down with us for at least 15 minutes pointing out things on a map so that our 7 night stay in Florence was even more enjoyable.

Our only small issue was with the power, which went out one night after our hair dryer went a bit rogue. However, we called Daniella and she came to our aid straight away!

Overall, a beautiful place run by beautiful people!

Oh and did I mention that Raphael also stayed here!!!!!!

This is a great choice for a trip to Florence. It's centrally located so that you can walk to anywhere and it's a lovely conversion of a former palace. I recommend it highly for any travelers. Our suite up in the eves would have been great for a family.

This place is truly exceptional, from the rooms to the people. First, Daniela treats her guests just like family and the rest of the staff is also extremely attentive and kind. Second, the room we stayed at was absolutely beautiful (extremely clean, 2 rooms, kitchen, large bathroom, and a wonderful balcony.) Staying a Palazzo Tolomei feels like a home away from home! As for the food, there are delicious pastries in the lobby and the breakfast is at a nearby restaurant, Za Za's (which is also quite good.)

It's usually very easy to find a good hotel, and it's not that hard to find a luxurious hotel in a place like Florence. But it is a quite rare opportunity to be able to stay in a hotel like Palazzo Tolomei, because it's a very different experience. Staying in a palace from the 17th century gives you the sense of living there as a Florentine, almost 300 years ago. Due to our travel plans, we only got to stay at the hotel for one night. But it was one of the best stays I've ever had. The staff were more than friendly. Daniela and Chiara helped us with everything we needed from directions to other cities, to many well restaurant recommendations. They offered us champagne or coffee every time we stopped by the front desk. The hotel was a bit complex because of the floor plans but very clean, comfortable and very well located. It was definitely once in a life time experience.

Sometimes when we travel things fall into place in a most magical way and that is what happened with our trip to Florence and our stay at Palazzo Tolomei. Daniela and her staff took us under their wings from the very first minute we stepped into their midst. Daniela, Chiara and Geraldine were friendly and warm and were quick to help. They were eager to share their enthusiasm and knowledge of a great city and its art. We were turned on to authentic art restoring and galleries and museums that were absolutely thrilling! The rooms were very comfortable and spacious with lots of decor from the seventeenth century. We had clean towels every morning and a refreshed room each day. Our room was warm, comfortable and quiet with large windows that we could open and bring in fresh air. Daniela was able to tell us the history of the frescos and art that adorn the rooms. It was refreshing to have an authentic Italian experience with restaurant recommendations each night off the beaten path that were quite delicious. I love how the Italians have a passion for food and art! The Palazzo is walking distance to everything and it was fun to discover the art and beauty of Florence on foot. Because it is a bed and breakfast we had daily vouchers for breakfast each morning at a nearby restaurant (Za Za's) that we looked forward to each morning. Our six night stay was a delightful holiday. I can't wait to return!
