We were at florence city centre and managed to find this trattoria for dinner on our first night in Florence. The menu was in black white Photocopy paper (so u know they don't spend money on fanciful stuff). We order mixed platter for appetizer but we thought this can pass.

The mix steak was good actually! There were chicken, pork and veal meat season with herbs. My friends had other main an all tasted good! So u won't have to worry about ordering some dishes that doesn't taste good.

Pricing was affordable and the ambience was cosy and we like it though it was not big and spacious sort.

We had a great time at this little trattoria. The service was quick, one waiter who was very friendly and helpful. He spoke great English and was very knowledgeable about all the food. We got the rigatoni bolognese to start. I got the veal cooked with garlic and sage. The meat was very tender and we'll seasoned. My husband got the Florentine steak, they even brought the raw piece out to show us the size and it was well priced, 21 euro for 0.6 kilos, so it was great to know we weren't getting a huge piece of meat! He liked it, but it is a style of cooking, but definitely a must try! We had a grape tart for dessert, it was okay, definitely fresh grapes. Great dinner! Definitely one of the best we had in Florence!

This hole in the wall restaurant is near the train station in the heart of the pedestrian tourist district, just off the central market. The menu changes daily and is hand written in Italian and English. When we were there, two thirds of the patrons spoke to the waiters in English, which was spoken well by the wait staff. Southern Italian ballads emanated from the kitchen, with the wait staff singing along. The appetizers and first plates were 5-7 Euro and the second plates 8-12 Euro. Our bill for two with water, came to 33 Euro, and surprise, no coperto (cover charge/bread). The food was above average in quality. Both of us had a spinach ravioli as a first and one had pork and the other a beef dish that were all above average in quality and quite tasty. We spent twice as much for a meal in Piazza Santo Spirito, on the other side of the Arno River, the previous night that was not as good. This is a very small place with at most 15 tables when the tables for four are split into two. Service was excellent and efficient. This is not a pretentious place, but much better than average food for a much better than average price. That is why I believe that La Burrasca warrants an excellent rating, as these qualities are difficult to combine.

One of my favorites! La Burrasca is just this little hole in the wall restaurant on a side street whose clientele are the locals. It is very small, rustic and simple. You will find the table set with the typical yellow tuscan paper. The food is GOOOOD and reasonably priced. Aside from a variety of meat dishes, there is a selection of vegetable pasta/dishes for you vegetarians. The eggplant parmesan, melazane ripeni and stewed vegetables are some of my favorite orders. When it is available (because the chef's wife make it), the tiramisu is decadently fabulous! Another plus, I learned La Burrasca changes the menu often and will prepare dishes according to what produce is in season. Now, that is Tuscan food at its best!
