Our hotel recommended Pandemonio to us and it was just a short walk, so a good choice. Food was very good with a delicious pasta starter jammed with lovely clams. We both went for the Osso Buco for our mains and got a good, wholesome plate of exactly that.

Don't expect super refinement, but do expect tasty food and a very warm welcome.

We visited Mama's this fall, after our trip last summer. The food and hospitality didn't disappoint. The food highlights? The bistecca, the bistecca, the bistecca. We are from Texas, so we know our beef, so it's no small compliment to say it was the best bistecca we had in Florence or in Italy. Other highlights were the eggplant flan and the tortellaci. The limoncello after dinner was as good as we remember. The best part of the restaurant is Mama, Babbo (her husband) and her staff (including Sarah, her sister in law). Everyone makes you feel welcome and wants to make sure you are happy. It's certainly not the cheapest place to eat but it's worth the price to us! It's our favorite place in Florence and we will continue coming back for many years.

A friend recommended this restaurant and we arrived with a group of 8. We were told to ask for Mama and she greeted us like long lost friends. She made recommendations and we had her special pasta which was incredible. We then were shown the biggest T-Bone steaks I have ever seen (4+ lbs. each) and ordered three for the table. The beef just melted in your mouth, and we couldn't even dent the third steak. The staff is pleasant and efficient, the house wine was perfect.
Don't miss!!.

A friend of mine living in Florence took us here when I requested we, six of us, have a good dinner in a quiet setting. It was the BEST meal I have ever had in my life and I'm not young. Nobu, the chef, and his staff eloquently demonstrated their excellence in every single aspect--from the exquisite dishes, of course, to the service including spot on wine suggestions and meticulous serving timing. They went out of their way to accomodate my special request for a pasta dish I wanted to try (just cheese, butter, and black pepper) which was heavenly and surprised us with a refreshing homemade dessert liquor at the end. The moment we finished the dessert, I wanted to start over again from the appetizer for another round. This place is worth the sole reason for a visit to Florence. If you are traveling there, do yourself a favor and GO!
By the way, I strongly recommend this place to Japanese visitors, too, as Nobu can help you in Japanese.

Our hotel suggested this little place to us. It was a taxi ride to get there as we were staying on the other side of the Arno. Our food was good and the people were pleasant. It was rather empty when we arrived at 8:00 p.m. and we were surprised. I wish that we had known that there was a garden in the back and that must have been where other people were. We were told that they were known for their pasta but their menu was heavily weighted to meat.
