“One of the best dinner experience in Italy”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

I visited Florence during the summer and the night at Obika was perfect. We had a fried bread with mozzarella for the starter and a lasagna and a pizza for the main dishes. It was delicious!!! Also the place was great, an old mansion with great tables outside. Cannot wait to go there again.

“unaccessible”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Obika is an upscale resto on ritzy Tornabuoni, Florence's Fifth Avenue. I wanted to do the "daily Mozzarella degustation" (at 18.30), it's said that Obika has the best Mozzi in town.
All I can say is that the place is NEVER open, not in the morning, afternoon, or on a Friday night. After four tries, I gave it up.

“Excellent restaurant in an amazing setting”
Reviewed November 3, 2012 via mobile

We tried this restaurant after enjoying eating at the Obika in Rome. The setting is exquisite and the food superb. In particular, the truffle salami is outstanding. Excellent value as well. Highly recommended.

“Lunch in a fabulous space”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

The Florence location of this now international mozzarella bar is fabulous. Housed in a former bank on the most elegant and expensive street in Florence (via Tornabuoni has all the luxury shops: Hermes, Bulgari, Ferragamo, Tods, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany, Prada, Gucci etc). Obika (which means "eccola qua" or "here it is" in Neapolitan dialect ) is a lovely respite from shopping or touring (the back door of the Palzzo Strozzi. which has marvellous exhibits, is on the next street).
The setting, which is one of the nicest in Florence, is somewhat better than the food but it is such a wonderful place to stop that you don't really notice. The staff was helpful and friendly. Though it was late October it was very warm day so we sat in the gorgeous courtyard. Do take the walk through to the Toilets and you can see how beautiful all of the rooms are and what a stellar wine collection they have. There is even a private dining room if you have a party to give while in Florence! Each space has a totally different feel to it.
This is a homage to mozzarella di Bufala, and while the cheese is good and tasted extremely fresh (2 of us shared plates of Paestum-delicate and Pontina-strong flavour cheeses), it is not the best I have eaten. As many reviewers have said, the accompaniments were rather boring. We had the cherry tomatoes with pesto. Another member of our party had the prosciutto pizza (made with a special stone ground flour and left to rise 48 hours) - delicious! The last member of our group had a a selection of fried foods and a very fresh mixed salad. One thing to note is that NO garlic or onions are used in any of the dishes. The server told us that the "big boss" doesn't like these ingredients. This was fantastic for us as one of our party is allergic to garllic. The breads in the basket were lovely. Coffees were delicious, but the balls of mozzarella were so large that none of us had room for dessert. We paid around 65 euros for 4 of us with water, 2 glasses of wine and cover charges.

“Wonderful location - average food”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

We were there for Sunday brunch, which was a bit disappointing since some of the normal dishes are not available. The buffet was ok, but nothing more than that.
It's a place I'd go back to when I want a quick bite before continuing my shopping.
