“What a fortunate choice!”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

Once begun, I realised that this review would not be able to add too much more than that which has already been recorded by Hannah, Sab and Tiff !! But I felt compelled to add my bit to the accolades already given!
Attention to detail out of the top drawer and all forms of correspondence promptly answered.
Well done and sincere thanks to Letizia and Alan for their contribution to making a visit to Firenze such a pleasant experience.

Room Tip: For a view, request rooms facing the Arno River. For light sleepers, suggest an 'inner' room...

For the price we payed, and service we received, this was a gem in Florence. When we arrived we were greeted by Letizia, who was so friendly and informative. She spent well over the expected time showing us our room, gave us a map of Florence and recommended things to do and places to eat. You should definitely take her advice!

The room we had was perfect, with an amazing view of the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio. It was very spacious with even a bottle of wine waiting on our arrival. Although the bathroom is located outside the room, it was next door and I didnt find a problem with this. Breakfast was served in our own room, simple, but typical Italian breakfast.

The B&B is located on the third floor, and no elevators, but that is also common in Italy. And the view is amazing and def worth the climb. The location of the B&B was perfect for us. Not too touristy, which is what we like. Just a short walk across the river. Many good, local restaurants nearby ( just ask Letizia or Alan). They really are the sweetest and most helpful people. They even let us leave our bags after check out because we werent leaving until the afternoon.

If you are staying in Florence, you will love this place. Cant wait to return!

Room Tip: Although it was just two of us, we stayed in the family room, I believe. It had a queen and a double...

Comparing with low cost accommodation and B&B, it was great, more than expectation. Comfortable room, helpful and kind reception with useful guide tips, clean and quite, close to city center and tourist attractions and of course good price!
The only issue is the toilet, although each room has a private bathroom, but its out of the room!
Totally it was a perfect choice for my husband& I.

To everyone who is looking for a B&B, Il Magnifico was definitely more than what we expected. It's literally 3 minutes from the Ponte Vecchio, which is essentially the gateway to everything in Florence. Honestly, even though it's on the other side of the river, Florence is TINY, meaning that distance isn't really an issue. The owners of this little establishment are actually some of the nicest people. The "check-in" process is probably the greatest "check-in" anyone can ask for. We had a mini history lesson of Florence as well as a very down to earth guide on where to eat! The rooms are very clean, and we were a group of 5 in one room, which was actually perfect with one queen sized bed and 3 single beds. We had access to coffee 24/7, which was very very nice. Not to forget also, our view was looking straight at the Duomo.... beautiful. For a group of city hopping travelers, Il Magnifico was pretty great. Definitely recommend it.

Il Magnifico is one of those places that worked out perfectly for my family, but I know isn't for everyone. The owners are very kind and helpful and we felt very welcome staying here. The rooms are spacious, and even with the addition of two extra beds in what is normally a triple, we never felt crowded or on top of each other. My parents had a double room, that was also very large. Both of our rooms had great views. The value of this hotel is outstanding, and dare I say one of the best I have ever had.

However, there are many things about this hotel that we found to pros, but I know others might find them as cons, so I will provide some additional information for those that are thinking of staying here:

The hotel is on the other side of the Arno river from the main tourist attractions. The trade-off for the extra 10 minute walk is that you get quiet, a small little park/green space and great budget restaurants just around the corner.

The hotel is on the top floor and there's no elevator. The trade-off is the view is spectacular. (And the quiet. But I've already mentioned that.)

The breakfast is pre-packaged and put in your room the afternoon before you eat it. The trade-off is that you don't have to specify a specific time you want breakfast. You can eat it in your pajamas, and you don't have to make small talk with other guests at the B&B before your morning caffeine has kicked in. I found I actually liked this much better than a traditional B&B.

The bathrooms aren't connected to the rooms. They're still private, but you have to walk down the hall a little. Since our group had two rooms (a quint and a double) we had two bathrooms to use, instead of just one en-suite bathroom. I had been concerned that this might be a problem for my parents, but they found so many other positives at Il Magnifico, that they didn't mind. The decor of the bathrooms is a bit dated, but the bathrooms were very clean and modl-free. Much cleaner than many other updated ones that I've had at other hotels or B&Bs.

If I'm ever back in Florence (and I hope to be some day) I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. I just hope that this continues to be a hidden gem and doesn't become so popular that we can't get a room!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the river and Duomo.

The people who run it are really friendly. The rooms are clean and spacious. It is no more than 10 minute walk from any of the main attractions that Florence has to offer. excellent value for money. Great view from 1 of the bedrooms. Were really kind, let us leave our bags there for the day when we had our train in the evening

Room Tip: If you choose the 3 bed room then it is en suite

We stayed in Florence at this B&B and it was so nice! The couple who owns it is very friendly, and they speak many languages. Very smart! The place is comfortable, clean, everything you need to rest after walking a lot in Florence (you will...). We actually felt bad we couldn't stay another day, but he had to keep going... to Rome. The price is reasonable for students, but if you want a more expensive place, don't go there, you know, some people can be very particular. I'm all about comfort, not fancy places designed by whatever...
There's no elevator, some stairs. Shower can be tight for bigger people definitely! just being honest...
One more thing, PLEASE HAVE GELATO AT "LA GELATERIA" IT'S AMAZING! chocolate hazelnut is awesome...
