Gustapanino has the most amazing paninis, and for the best prices too! It's a little bit of a walk to get to their shop on the other side of the river, but it's definitely worth it. Once you try the paninis here, you'll never settle for the overpriced, average-tasting paninis near the Duomo. My favorites are their cooked ham/mushroom spread/provola cheese, turkey/mozzarella/tomatoes/pesto, and mortadella ham/artichoke. Grabbing a focaccia panini at Gustapanino every day for lunch is definitely one of the things I'll miss the most about studying abroad in Florence.

They serve the best panini in Florence. Also it's located very close to the piazza in front of Santo Spirito church, were you can enjoy a great panino and relax at the piazza.

Gusto Panino was the best place for me to get a panini in Florence on a low budget. As a study abroad student from America, this restaurant was located just across the river from central Florence, where my apartment was located. It is a two minute walk from Ponte Vecchio and a ten minute walk from The Duomo. All of the paninis are between 3 and 4 Euros in price and they are all delicious. Service is quick and friendly; the owner gave us free muffins and tiramisus when we were there.

Gustapanino is one of three restaurants owned by "The Gusta Brothers" in and around the piazza Santo Spirito in Florence. They specialize in making you quick and tasty focaccie (flat bread) and piadiane (wraps), and will gladly pack it full of whatever sort of goodies you want. The panini are good, all the employees are wonderful (Andrea, Ayako and Manuele!), and the price can't be beat. Not much seating inside, so grab your panino and a beer and sit on the steps of the church just right outside!

I can't think of a better place for a quick and inexpensive lunch (or dinner or late-night snack for that matter) on the south side of the Arno. I kid you not when I say I've eaten a Gustapanino nearly every day I've been in Florence for nearly a year. But as they say on Reading Rainbow, "You don't have to take my word for it!".

Make sure you find the Piazza San Spirito and have lunch at Gustapanino; the panini sandwiches are excellent, flavorful, and freshly prepared. Great value for your 'euro' and nice to sit out on the church steps to enjoy the square on a nice day. The place itself is tiny so best to take with you and eat outside. All kinds we tried were great! Definitely a must do place for a tasty lunch while in Florence, especially if you are on the south side of the river (and even if you aren't this is a short walk!).
