“Great place.”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

Had a mix up of the locations at first (don't trust googlemaps, type in the actual address given) but when the hostel was found, it was excellent. The location is right above the leather market (San Lorenzo) which is wonderful and dangerous for your bank account. They are there all day and night as well which makes it feel much safer walking through there at night. The rooms are clean, the shower is good and the hostel has two doors to get through so its very safe. The staff is very friendly and breakfast is provided in the mornings. The only problem I had was at night when the lights weren't always on making it difficult to see. Beware though, the actual hostel is on the third or fourth level so if you bring your suitcase, make sure it's light enough for you to carry up and down, if not, give it a skip and bring a backpack.

Questo b & B e' bellissimo! Pulito, carino, a una posizione ottimo al mercato San Lorenzo, molto vicino alla stazione S.M. Novella. I personali erano molto disponibili. Le stanze belle con una buona prima colazione.

This b & b is great! Clean, cute, at a great location at the San Lorenzo market, very near the S.M. Novella train station. The people working there were very helpful, Daniel gave us excellent directions when we checked in and spoke great English. The rooms were very nice, and there was a nice breakfast.

At first we had a reservation in the emerald hostel and when we got there we were informed that they did not have any rooms left. They ended up putting us in emerald palace to accomodate us which was awesome! We saw no staff the whole one we were there so the service was not great...but the room we had was awesome and right in the heart of Florence!

It took as awhile to figure out what hostel we were in once we did, I'm not going to lie, I told my husband I'm not staying there. The building was very sketchy... The market used it for storage maybe and was really old and dirty.. However once we were able to get into the hostel my mind was changed!! We had an amazing view and a huge room with high ceilings and nice ikea style decorations. Was cleaned most days and there was toast and great cappuccinos in the am. Once I realized the building wasnt scary, I loved it. The location was so excellent an the owners and staff were so great. I would stay here again in a second!!

When we arrived by taxi from the train station we learned that actually we weren't at that location, we were going to stay in the overflow "Emerald Fields" location of this hostel. We didn't mind too much because it was closer to the city center, and the woman walked us there, and apologized (apparently she'd sent an email a day or 2 earlier). We stayed here over New Years, when they increased the price to 108 euro/night for a double (with shared bathroom). The place was totally fine for our needs, but definitely not worth 108/night! Also make sure you vacate your room before the mandatory cleaning period from 11am-2pm (even on New Years day..oops) unless you want to face the wrath of the Italian cleaning staff lady! Also should mention that we found the location convenient for walking to the Duomo, Uffizi, Pontevecchio etc. All in all would recommend as a perfectly decent hostel except when they jack up their prices for a holiday..

Would recommend this place for any backpacker. Yes it was small but small made the service much more personal. Staff were friendly. Location was a walk to all the attractions but quite close to the museam with the real David in it and within walkin distance of the train station. Best hostel I have stayed in.
