When we booked our accommodation in Florence we were very happy to find somewhere quite literally in the centre of the city at an affordable price. What we were hoping for was to find a place where we could come and go as if it were our own home, for our time there, and to feel completely at ease to do as we wished. We were not disappointed.

Our apartment was beautiful, very clean, with amazing views out to the Domo on one side and to the Palazzo Vecchio on the other. The cooking and food storage facilities provided were more than adequate for preparing something to eat, but of course who wants to eat indoors when you have fantastic restaurants all around you!?! But to have the option to cook for yourself, grab a snack, have cereal, drink tea, etc, was very nice. Our bathroom was clean and presentable and even here there was a very private view, not at all overlooked, out to an aspect of the Palazzo della signoria.

Access to the building and to the apartment was very secure and you really felt as if you were coming home when you returned. On our arrival we met up with the family representative to receive our keys and go through the details of the accommodation. The Other facilities in the apartment such as TV, Microwave, etc, were great to have available, though little used as we spent most days and nights out.

If you're looking for a very central, very charming, very Italian, place to stay then I would highly recommend the Palazzo Uguccioni. Of course if you're looking for a 'hotel' that feels like a hotel and not a home from home then you may want to look to holiday in a different City entirely. Florence is a wonderful destination and this accommodation helped to make it even more of a special time away.

This apartment is in a great location, close to everything. I booked thru Window on Italy agency -- the pictures are much better than the actual. One bedroom ceiling was so low with a hugh beam running thru. We had to walk bent over. It also offered no privacy as it was a loft. The TV was in the other bedroom making it usable only to the one room. The eating area was a table shoved into the corner accessi ble to only two people at a time. This is a great setup for a family or college students but not for two couples. However, the location was absolutely wonderful and the apartment was very clean. We attempted to change locations but received no help in doing so. As we had to pay $125 cleaning charge to stay even one day, we stuck it out.

I would just like to point out a few things regarding the above review:

1) This review is of our "Fantasia" apartment, and does not represent the features of all of our apartments at Palazzo Uguccioni.

2) This specific apartment was booked online through an agency, and therefore perhaps the client did not clearly understand the layout and amenities of the apartment prior to booking. It is true that this specific apartment is not appropriate for elderly people (because of the "typically tuscan" low ceiling beam in the one bedroom), and it is also true that the two bedrooms are not identical (and therefore perhaps not suitable for two couples wanting "equal" accommodations). Had I personally taken the reservation, I would have booked them in a different apartment at Palazzo Uguccioni... but that was not the case.

3) When the client says that she received "no help" in changing locations, I believe that she is referring to "help" from the agency. I, the manager, told her that I would have gladly moved them to another apartment, but unfortunately all our other apartments were occupied. I tried to assist her in communicating with the agency; however, for whatever reason, they did not find her alternate accommodations. I would say that she received all the help possible from Palazzo Uguccioni - but in the end, her payment was already made to the agency, and I did not have the resources to move her elsewhere.

4) Also, just to clarify, the second bedroom is not really a "loft" as described. It is on an upper level, and it has a small staircase to the main level. The staircase has no door, and therefore the bedroom can not be shut off by closing the door. But it is not a "loft", which to me would mean a balcony overlooking the main space.

In summary, I would only urge clients to make sure they are fully aware of all the features of their accommodations prior to booking, so that we can avoid these problems in the future. We really have a perfect location, beautiful apartments and helpful management... just be sure to pick the right apartment for your needs!

muffin0110, we apologize for any dissatisfaction you experienced, and hope we can welcome you to one of our other beautiful apartments on your next visit to Florence!

Best Regards,
Ellen

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Palazzo Uguccioni is located in Piazza della Signoria - in the heart of the city center. From the palazzo, you step outside into this famous piazza's open-air museum, and walk to all of the city's most famous monuments within minutes. We are around the corner from the Ponte Vecchio, down the street from the Duomo, a short stroll to Piazza Santa Croce, and only steps from the Uffizi. You can't find a better location from which to explore Florence! Palazzo Uguccioni Some of the most important Florentine palaces surround Piazza della Signoria, and Palazzo Uguccioni is in fact one of these splendid palaces. The building, with its noble and harmonious façade, was created for Giovanni Uguccioni by Mariotto di Zanobi Folfi in 1549 to a design by Raphael. From the ground floor, constructed with large ashlars forming three arches, two stories rise above and are divided by twin columns of the Ionic and Corinthian order which are set on plinths. On the first floor, above the entrance, is a bust of Cosimo I (currently being restored). It is in this magnificent building that our five charming apartments can be found and where one may experience an unforgettable stay and enjoy some of the most beautiful views in the world! ... more   less
