Trattoria Bordino is famous for it's location and ownership by someone with a name of a famous Italian race car driver. Unfortunately the night we went, they were not firing on all cylinders. The talgiata was very tough (hardly able to cut it) and the Veal Valdostana had a good flavor, but was swimming in a sauce. The Fiorentina was passable, but not up to the standards we became accustomed to in Firenze.

To add to the evening their credit card machine malfunctioned and we were there for 30 min trying to get our conto and leave. Maybe an off night, but it was a poor experience for us.

We ate here at the recommendation of the owner of our rental house. We sat at an outside table. There is no view to speak of, but it was still an enjoyable experience. Food was good, as was the service. Not sure it's worth a taxi ride, but if you are in the area, it is recommended over other places near Ponte Vecchio.

We were told we did not need to reserve a table when we went in at lunch time on the day we intended to go for dinner. As a party of eight we were surprised. We got there in the evening to find half the tables reserved. We were sat and two tables until we chose to move to a side room and asked staff to rearrange tables. This was a good move as the side room was much cosier and had a nice breeze with the windows open. Fish, pasta and steak were ordered for our table. The pasta was good, bigger serves than elsewhere we had eaten but not as tasty. My husband and father in law shared the florentine steak at €33 a kilo, which I thought was expensive but seems as though this is by far the cheapest place I've seen (most are over €40/kg). The steak was the most wonderful thing I have ever eaten. My husband thought he would cry it was so good. We have tried to make it in our apartment but can't get close to how nice it was. If you eat here get the steak. This restaurant was recommended by the owner of our apartment and we can see why, yummy steak!

If most of you are avid travelers and have been to Firenze before, you know the best food lies across the river. This is definitely the case when it comes to Trattoria Bordino. My wife make a point of going to local neighborhoods in European cities and finding small non-touristy places to dine.
The service was great, Pepe was hysterical and obviously loves what he does, as he would dance away from the table to the music.
There were 5 tables filled in The Bordino, we were the only english speaking guests.
The food was great, very well priced Bissteca Florentina (35 euro opposed to 45-55 back near the Duomo) and the pasta with truffles was amazing and not too rich.
Location, well it is hard to find but well worth the search!
The wine list was great, and Pepe reccomended a great vino della zona (local wine) and he did not just try and sell us the most expensive bottle.
I definitely reccomend The Bordino!

We went to Trattoria Bordino because our Hotel, Hotel David recommended it. We had just arrived in Florence on our honeymoon after spending 3 nights in Rome and 3 nights in Siena. This was our first stop after checking in to our hotel. We arrived by taxi. There was a man sitting outside he appeared to be a cook. There were no guests dining there. Walked up and asked for a table for 2. He made a look of disgust and motioned with his hand towards an empty table (keep in mind they wer all empty) we went to sit and he motioned to let us know....no the farthest table. We sat down. We waited 10 minutes while the cook and then a waitress sat and smoked.....we finally got up and without a world left. We walked just around the corner to a lovely..welcoming resturant Celestine. Have never been treated so poorly. We made sure to tell our hotel as well. Spend your money elsewhere!!,
