“See the real Florence!”
Reviewed October 3, 2012 via mobile

My husband and I enjoyed this tour immensely through the Chianti region. Hilary is a very knowledgable sommelier who has worked in the wine industry for many years. She explained the region, the culture, the food, the history and how they are all tied together. Started off at a small boutique winery where we enjoyed the company of the owner Francesca and chianti Classico, chianti Classico reserva and a super Tuscan as well as a dessert wine. We enjoyed so much we placed a shipping order back home to Canada. Next stop for lunch was wonderful and then onto another small winery. Also made purchases to take home. Thank you Hilary!!

“Excellent Wine Tour; Excellent Value”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

My wife and I are from the US and have done various wine tours in famous European destinations (Burgundy, Bordeaux, etc.). We were excited to go to Chianti. We selected Italy & Wine for our tour, the Chianti Classico & Supertuscan tour to be precise, which I highly recommend. Arranging the tour was straight forward and easy. We were picked up promptly at the meeting point by our tour guide Matteo.

Matteo was excellent. His English is superb, and his knowledge of the region and wine couldn't be better! He was extremely patient and kept a great pace and informative and jovial conversation. We ended up having great conversations with actual winemakers, and I think we went over on the scheduled time because we were having so many great conversations with Matteo, the other couple and the winemakers. Matteo didn't mind and didn't rush us at all.

The included lunch was spectacular as well. The overall pace, the amount of wines and the wineries we visited were all perfect.

We visited three wineries and spent a lot of quality time with the winemakers. Each winery had 5-10 wines to taste, and in some cases we got some special wines, grappas, etc not normally part of the tour. Additionally, some of the places had home-made olive oil which was a nice complement to the wine. You will not leave this tour thirsty or hungry, that's for sure.

All of the wines were great, I ended up buying 12 bottles to take home. Chianti Classico wines are great value, most of the Classicos on this tour cost ~20EUR and were of exceptional quality. The Supertuscans were a bit more ~40EUR and also were incredible. There wasn't an pressure to buy bottles, but we enjoy drinking wine so we bought many!! Compared to other famous wine regions, these wines are exceptionally low priced considering their value.

Considering the price we paid for the tour, the amount of wine we drank, the included lunch and the spectacular tour guide Matteo, this was the best value wine tour we've done to date. I would highly recommend it, and should we go back to Florence, we'll do another tour with Matteo for sure!

I recommend this tour for anyone who likes wine, everyone will walk away with a great experience. Whether you're a seasoned wine lover or a novice wine drinker, this tour will be great and tailored for your pleasure. Make sure to ask for Matteo, he's the best!

“Wonderful day”
Reviewed October 2, 2012 via mobile

Learnt a lot about Chianti from the lovely and vibrant Hilary. She has such an amazing knowledge of wine and the local customs of Tuscany. Two very different wineries, the first; a small family boutique style with a beautiful villa and the second, an inspiring organic farm with gorgeous wine and olive oil. Very generous with the tastings at both places, we arrived back in Florence ready for a pizza and sleep. Great Day!!

“Favorite and most memorable day in Italy”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

My husband, parent-in-laws and I did the private Chianti Classico wine tour with Matteo and we had the best time! Everyone was very impressed by the unique and high quality experience we had and it was definitely one of our most favorite and most memorable days in Italy. Here are the major highlights:

1) Great tour guide--I would request Matteo. He was a very friendly guide who has a lot of knowledge about wine making and wine tasting. We enjoyed talking to him about what it's like living in Italy / Florence. Everyone agreed that you don't find such a high quality tour guide in the U.S.--we learned more from this tour than we did from our tours in Napa and Monterey.
2) Great selection of wineries--The two wineries selected were both great and complementary. One was a big winery that also has a farm and provided us bread, lettuce, prosciutto and olive oil (all from the organic farm!) to go with our wine--that was awesome. The other winery was a smaller, family-owned business and it was great to get a personal tour from the owner. We ended up getting wine and olive oil from both wineries!
3) Delicious, authentic Tuscan lunch--Matteo picked a cute Tuscan restaurant. It had a great ambiance that we didn't find anywhere else in Italy and we could taste the freshness of all the ingredients.
4) Convenient--driving in Florence can seem a bit intimidating, so having the guides pick you up and drop you off at your hotel eliminates any need for stressful planning

I'd highly recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting Florence and wants to see a beautiful, less touristy part of Italy. Even if you don't love wine, you'll have a great time just learning about wine making, seeing Tuscany, enjoying real Italian food, sampling oil and learning more about Italy from a friendly tour guide.

Thank you Matteo!

“Great Experience!”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

On our Chianti Classico tour my husband and I were lucky to be the only 2 people and received a private tour from Vittorio. We visited 2 wineries and had a wonderful authentic tuscan lunch. Vittorio was a great host with knowledge of the wineries as well as Italian history and culture. Both wineries were unique, but having the owner of one give us a private tour was a once in a lifetime experience. This is a tour we would highly recommend!
