“Only popped in”
Reviewed June 1, 2013 via mobile

We only popped in for wine and cake. The chianti was good and only 2 euro a glass. The cake was chocolate and pear, warmed with chocolate sauce. Really good and the service was great. The restaurant section was busy with people continuing to come in even after 9.30. A shame we had already eaten.

“Delicious food and wine patronised by the locals”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

We went for dinner and the food was delicious.Wide choice on the menu specialising in T Bone and fillet steaks but many alternatives and also cater for vegetarians We went early around 7:30p.m and had a choice of tables. A little later this restaurant was full of locals some with children. The food, service and atmosphere were very good for the price. Go early as it gets very full after 8.30p.m.

“Good food, service and great value”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

This restaurant is very good and worth a visit if you are looking for good value, service with a smile and tasty Italian food. My husband really enjoyed his salad and home made ravioli. My dishes also tasty. They obviously do a lot of the large, thick cut steaks and these looked very good too. We were the only tourists, all other patrons locals/Italians and the atmosphere was very pleasant.

“So-so”
Reviewed April 9, 2013 via mobile

While the price is right and the service very friendly, the food could be much better.
I went in last night at 6pm (the first customer of the evening) and gave the waiter free rein. I told him simply to "feed me."

He proposed a beef stew and pot of beans with the house red. When i ssked for antipasti he added small toasts with "pate" actually chopped chicken liver in a loose stewlike presentation.

This was a bad choice on top of the beef stew, something much lighter like tomato bruschette would have been better.

While the white beans were adequately prepared, the stew had definitely been cooked at too high a temperature as the meat was stringy and separating too much. A proper simmer results in a much different consistency.
The house wine was very harsh (red).

The dessert however was excellent. I had a generous piece of chocolate and pear cake which was light, moist, and flavorful.

Given the raves about the steak i don't understand why he didn't recommend that instead as he had carte blanche.

This was my first dinner in Florence so iI am not sure just what to expect and am perhaps being over critical -- but I did expect better and did have a wonderful sandwich for lunch earlier at a shop on via dei servi.
