“clean, homely atmosphere, good location”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

The location is good, close to centre to walk around.
The atmosphere is friendly, homely, receptionist is helpful. They also have computers, kitchen and the bedsheet is clean.
However, not many toilets, so you have to wait a little long. Kitchen is always full of people and very small, difficult to stay there to cook and eat.
The room could be hot in summer, and no lock for your luggage.
In general, my experience was not too bad but i will have to consider if i come again.

This has been THE WORST HOSTEL I HAVE EVER SEEN.

I checked out after one night, because I didn't feel safe, I felt like I was not welcome (the owners sshsst us at 8pm and told us to leave the kitchen when not cooking, only because they needed to use the kitchen themselves),
money had been stolen from a friend's wallet when all of us were out and only the owners were still there... and because they were up all night running around the hostel with shady things going on (carrying boxes in, screaming at each other). And then kicking us out from 10-5 for 'cleaning'.

I'm not even going to mention hygiene and stuff, because the owners are reason #1 NOT to go there. There are better hostels for the same price or 5euros more. Do it, believe me.

Do not stay here. They say that they have Aircon, but they don't. They say they have wifi, but they don't. You have to climb seven stories, no lift. The toilets were foul, the showers were disgusting and cold. The staff were the rudest and least helpful I have ever dealt with by a massive margin. Don't trust their hostel world rating, this place is a dump. Don't stay there.

My friends and I booked this hostel at the last minute, but from the initial reviews here it sounded ok.....we knew about the lockout but didn't have many options left. Regardless, a "lockout" from 10am-5pm is ridiculous, especially when they say it is for 'cleaning', yet you come back to the hostel and it's just as dirty as before. The staff seemed to treat customers ok, but then again how can you judge overall service when you can't even be in the hostel for 7 hours every day! Plus from all the negative reviews here, clearly they do not care very much about customer service, they just want your money.

Facilities:
The room doors are able to be locked, yet they tell you that the key to the door must stay in the door,...so what is the point??
Two bathrooms between a massive amount of people...plus the lockout means everyone comes back and uses them at the SAME TIME. Plus one of these bathrooms was an absolute disgrace and I swear was not cleaned in the 3 or so days I was there.
Common room was more like a furniture room+computers. Wifi decent, but didn't work in the room which was only a short walk away.
A/C was decent. That's about the only good thing.
Had a kitchen, didn't bother using it.

ATmosphere: Sure, they have a free sangria night and free pubcrawl (note that pubcrawl = 1 disgusting pub with a dodgy crowd) which seemed to be just a way for the owners to make money for their friends who ran the place, and to hit on every girl in the hostel. In all honesty, felt uncomfortable staying there, and I was with a group of friends. For female solo travellers, would definitely not recommend, but also would say to anyone that you can definitely find better for the same price. The location is the only plus, nothing in Florence is THAT hard to get to, so this doesn't trump all the other negative aspects in my opinion.

I was prepared for the worst... It actually wasn't that bad.
There are about 115 steps to the tip floor where most if us were. That SUCKED! - they do kick you out from 10 - 5 but they weren't that strict on it (some of us didn't leave till 11am - no problem) - also, why would you be at your hostel during those hours anyway?
The rooms are fine - nothing special. The common area/kitchen was great - sweeping veiws of Florence and the Duomo.
Best part was, they had free sangria parties each night and took us out to the local clubs for free! I'm sure they were being paid to get us there but who cares! Free booze!
Anyway, I'd probably stay here again - it alright value for money... And we make some good drinking buddies.

I implore you: do NOT visit this Hostel. The location is fantastic, but that is absolutely all. I've been coming to Italy for many years and I have never had such a horrible experience. Yes, Italians are more physical and affectionate than most of us are used to, but there is a difference between that and what's going on in this hostel. I did not feel safe here and actually fled because one of the owners was becoming more and more "affectionate" and really didn't seem to understand what "no" meant. Besides that, the facilities are insufficient, the rooms bare and the beds bad. You're better off sleeping under one of the bridges.

Hostel has a good location, and that's where the positives end. The staff aren't very nice, they kick you out of the hostel all day, and give you one key for a huge group. Would definitely recommend finding somewhere else to stay.
