“Super nice place to stay.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2013

Excellent location and ammenities. A super value for the price of the rooms and the staff Irene and Martina were very helpful. Irene's recommendations for places to eat that were extremely helpful to avoid the masses of tourists in July. Great local food with locals eating there too. Locanda dei Poeti is also also within a ten minute walk to the train station and only a 15 minute cab ride from the airport. The rooms were very very clean as well as the bathroom and common areas. Highly recommended for any travelers.

My son and I stayed here for three nights while visiting Italy for his birthday. It was all we could have hoped for. Clean, excellent location, efficient air con (which we definitely needed), and a communal kitchenette and dining area. Martina was helpful and charming. Our room while small, was a quiet oasis from the summer crowds of Florence.

Room Tip: Our twin room on the first floor was quiet and conveniently close to the lounge area and only one fl...

The place was everything we expected: good service, clean, comfortable and not expensive at all. And also location was excellent, being just a few blocks away fom the train station (Firenze SM Novella). I totally recommend this place for people going on relax and romantic holidays.

My wife and I just got back from 11 days in Florence where we stayed at Locanda dei Poeti. This is an excellent B&B and would recommend it to singles, couples, or a small family. It is close to the train station (about a 10 minute walk) and the attractions at center of the old part of the city is perhaps a 15 minute walk. Locanda dei Poeti is on the edge of the major attractions (although the Accademia Gallery is just a few blocks away), so the nearby restaurants tend to be cheaper than in the heart of the old city. If you go a few blocks north and west, you do tend to get into the part of the city that is a bit seedier as mentioned in some other reviews. But we always felt safe walking around (although we were not out beyond 11 PM any night). It really felt like home and we enjoyed coming back each evening after a day walking around town. Please be aware that this is really like having an apartment in Florence - the staff are only around on occasion, but they are more than willing to come at any time you need them - just leave a note on the desk one or two days before you need them or drop them an e-mail. Martina was very helpful by e-mail to set up the reservations and to give us all the details. We arrived around 10 AM on a Sunday and she was there to let us in, give us the keys, etc. She told us that we had to wait until the room was cleaned before we could use it, but we were able to drop our luggage in the room. The room was supposed to be ready by 1 PM, but it wasn't until 2 PM before we were able to get in (the staff was cleaning other rooms first, but once they knew we were waiting, they quickly moved to our room). We needed to sleep after the long overnight flight from the US!

Here are a few other comments:
1) There is a kitchenette on each floor. There is an espresso maker and jars filled with biscotti, which was enough for breakfast for us.

2) We purchased through Locanda dei Poeti the light breakfast at the nearby cafes. This was 5 euro each, and probably not worth it. You could purchase the espresso and croissant at the same places for about 3 euro each. Also, what was available in the kitchenette was just fine for us.

3) The mosquitoes were bad - my wife likes to keep the windows open, but we learned the first night the problem with this! I was covered in bites. There IS air conditioning (AC) in the room (which worked very well), so we just kept the windows closed and ran the AC. We left the AC off during the day and turned it on when we returned in the evening. Cooled the room off in just a few minutes.

4) The staff booked a taxi for us to get to the airport in the early morning. They need to book it the evening before, so make sure that you let them know a couple of days in advance.

5) You will receive a discount for the room if you pay the balance in cash. We didn't do this, but nice to know this is an option.

6) We had no issue with the hot water in the shower as some other people mention. The shower is small in comparison to the US, but typical for Europe.

7) There is free WiFi that worked very well and was high speed.

8) I attended a scientific conference at the University of Florence for the first five days of the trip. The university is a few kilometers north and west of L. dei P. - it was an easy walk to get to the buses I needed to take to get to the university.

9) We were in an interior room and it was quite all evenings (especially after we kept the windows closed because of the mosquitoes).

I would definitely recommend L. dei P. if you are staying in Florence!

We couldn't have wanted anything better! This DEFINITELY exceeded our expectations and was the nicest accommodation we had during our whole trip. I would highly recommend this with no reservations. Also, very close to train station which was a plus! We were VERY impressed and hope to go back! Will recommend to all friends and family. Martina also gives personal recommendations of restaurants which was helpful!

My fiancee and I spent a few days here based on previous reviews during our short trip to Florence and we were not disappointed. We met Martina on arrival and she was both friendly and helpful with regards to attractions within the area. The location of the B&B is just perfect, an easy walk to everything we wanted to see in addition to the train station. The room was perfectly clean with good showers. If there is any drawback, it is that the rooms do not have individual safes. Nevertheless, the place felt very safe and I will certainly recommend to fellow friends and family.

Thanks Martina.

kitchen has tea, coffee machine, biscuits, jam, nutella and fridge for you to stock up. No pots for cooking though but martina will recommend you some good restaurants so no worries. Food in florence is quite cheap too anyway, compared to rome and venice.

Room and bathroom were very spacious (I requested for modern room cos I do not like traditional looking floral sheets, its a peeve). No problem at all with hot water, in fact e heating system was "state of the art" as the shower head changes colour to indicate if the water has been heated.

Martina gives you a warm welcome and will indicate on the map the shortcut to attraction areas, restaurants, places of interest. Laundromat just 1 minute away.
