Donatella was an amazing host and made our stay in Florence very relaxing. After staying in hotels and B&Bs across Italy, Monte Oliveto is one of the best. So cute and so charming. We spent two nights and loved both of them. Breakfast was simple but so delicious...it was an impeccable Italian experience. Donatella h great taste and she's also a painter, so if art is why you came to Florence then you'll right at home here.

Room Tip: Just email Donatella and ask

We absolutely adored staying at the Monte Oliveto with our hosts Donatella and Nicolo. The rooms were absolutely perfect, the breakfast delicious and perfectly prepared and the company was fantastic and interesting. We were so happy to be able to "find a home" at the Monte Oliveto on chilly drizzly nights in Florence. Some travelers may find the stairs a little hard. We all packed small roller bags and traveled light for our 10 days abroad.
The Monte Oliveto is also in the Antiques district which is away from noisy crowd and packed restaurants. It is very interesting part of Florence just around the corner from the charming Pitti Palace and it's environs.

Room Tip: We had a family apartment and a single.

B&B Monte Oliveto was all that we could ask for in lodgings. Located across the Arno, away from the crowds and noise of the central historic district, it provided a wonderful haven for relaxing at the end of the day. The room we had was charming and bright, and, as a bonus, had its own private balcony. Donatella was very friendly and helpful, and provided the best breakfasts we had in Italy, lovely spreads that were a feast for the eye as well as palate. We'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Florence and hope to stay there again, ourselves.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have private baths; check.

We stayed 3 nights in this wonderful BB. It was quiet, spotless and Donatella was so helpful. Her dinner recommendations were perfect for us. I would highly recommend staying here.

My wife and I stayed at Monte Olivete for four nights last week. We really enjoyed our stay mostly thanks to the hospitality by the owners and a very safe and quiet surrounding environment. We woke up with little birds singing in the morning after very good night sleep, and were ready to go sightseeing every morning with full of energy. We came back to the B&B late at night after the opera or dinner, but felt totally safe on the way back. Although it is located in the residential area, there are very nice and popular restaurants, cafes and bars nearby so we could also enjoyed the lively atmosphere. We did not ride bus to go to town and back, but instead enjoyed walking most of the time,. Once you get to the shortcut to the town, it was not difficult at all to arrive any destination in town on time. It was also very convenient to take a cab. Breakfast was also fun sharing a table with other guests, exchanging trip information. Donatello served crepes and cakes all are home-made. We stayed at the spacious triple room with a nice kitchen so enjoyed dinner in our room one night. The view from the window is great. We felt we were in the mountain way out of a big city. Staying at Monte Olivete was a very big part of our pleasant Florence memory, and we are sure to stay there again in our future trip to Florence.

We had a terrific stay at Monte Oliveto. Donatella and Marta were gracious and helpful. Our room was the studio on the top floor. It was a beautiful, cozy nest with everything that our small family needed. Our children are still talking about the lovely breakfast. We really liked that it was located in a residential neighborhood. We slept very soundly because the beds were very comfortable and the rooms are absolutely quiet at night. I hope to return some day for a longer visit.

My daughter and I stayed four nights at this bed and breakfast. We have nothing but positive reviews! First and foremost, Donatella is a wonderful hostess. Her warm personality captured both of us from the moment we met her. She was incredibly helpful with directions for walking or bus connections, and recommendations for sights and restaurants. We enjoyed chatting with her over our breakfasts and learning more about Florence and Italy. Our room (one double bed) and adjoining bathroom were spotless, and the room was quiet (something of a rarity in Florence, we understand). Breakfasts were excellent. The local bus stop (coming from the train station) is just around the corner from the hotel. It is an easy 15-30 minute walk from all major sights, and easy walking to some excellent restaurants in the Altrarno. Highly recommended!
