Description: ...A few steps from ‘“Santa Croce” square, in front of the “Teatro Verdi”, in the historical centre of Florence, is the restaurant La Maremma.....since 1987, a meeting point and source of ancient tastes and Tuscan traditions...... With its main dining room sorrounded by the warm colours of the wood and wine most and continuing into a second room with sofa and leather chairs, to get to the tiny hunter-room for just 8 lucky people.

We enjoyed this restaurant, which was recommended by the concierge at our hotel. Viewing it from outside, we weren't convinced, as it looked pretty tight on space, but we rolled the dice and went in. We shared a pecorino cheese appetizer drizzled with honey and thyme. Very tasty. We all enjoyed our entrees, a variety of pasta dishes. Mine was a gnocchi dish with walnuts and it was very good. You could tell they were proud of their house red, and it was excellent. We toyed with the idea of getting dessert, decided against it, and then regretted it when the waiter passed our table with a delicious looking dessert for another party. The bill was about what you'd expect. Not the best place I've ever been to, but definitely above average.

This restaurant is the best place we had when we were in Florence during our last visit to Florence. The cuisine is real Tuscana, excellent quality products, the food is fresh cooked, the wine is local and they offer the best on the chianti region. The service could not be better. The owners: Enzo, Lucca and Marco know what to offer and will give you what is best of the season.
Very friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices. Excellent location, right next to La Santa Croce.
Lot of locals eat there. And that is a good sign. Will miss there food. Highly recommended.

It was raining and close to the hotel so our concierge recommended La Maremma. We went with our 2 teens so I was bit fearful we'd end up at pizza-pasta-paninni or a "standard tourist menu" place but to my relief it offered regional food in a nice setting. I had the wild boar pasta for a first and we shared a mix grill. Both were excellent.

On a recommendation, we had lunch here with our two kids (6 and 9), and it was fabulous! Linguini and clams, peppered mussels, red snapper and green beans...the house red! Food was marvelous, service was friendly and prompt, and tab was reasonable. We will try to return before we leave!!

We were in the neighbourhood and googled a place to eat. Since two other places we considered were closed (it was a Sunday), we wound up here and are very glad we did. This is a small family-run restaurant with a good variety of options on the menu. It's kind of old school with the waiters yelling their orders to the cooks in the open kitchen in the back. We ate the homemade papperdelle and a dish of mixed fried prawns, squid and zucchini blossoms to start. Both dishes were very good. For the main, steak florentine with sides of white beans and the spinach. Again, both dishes were winners. The wine was very reasonably-priced. We liked the atmosphere in the restaurant - it was vibrant and we could hear a lot of Italian spoken by the diners. It was probably the least touristy of all the restaurants we've eaten at in Florence. We would highly recommend it.
