“Great pizza”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2013

I had a really good pizza here. Service was friendly. We arrived at opening time on a Monday evening and the place was quickly filled so best to come early without a reservation.

“One of the best pizzas of my life”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013 via mobile

I've eaten pizza all over the world, and all over Italy- I've even tried the other top pizzerias in Florence- Gusta Pizza and Pizza Man, and while all are fantastic, I put Il Pizzaiuolo at or near the top. The owners are unmistakably Neapolitan, conversing in their dialect across the restaurant. the place is modest and quite small, but offers some truly authentic food, which just cannot be missed, even if you're not much of a pizza fan. They have a nice range on the menu of about 20 pizzas, rather than being the "margherita/marinara only" purists that some pizzerias are. To top it off we had fast, friendly service, and the prices are normal/cheap for Florence. Perhaps the only thing they're missing is a signature pizza, something Pizza Man did very well. What you get with a top pizzeria is you can taste each ingredient- the tomato, the mozzarella, the thick base. Most places outside Italy struggle with second rate mozzarella and tomato, but not here, Naples is not far away after all. I can't think of a better place to grab a meal. Just go, I seriously doubt you'll be disappointed!

“Excellent pizza and great local atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2013

Their pizza has a slightly thicker crust which was a perfect change of pace after six straight days of eating pizza. Once you visit Italy you will understand how one can eat pizza every day. We hired a chef for a cooking class and she said it was the best pizza in Florence. It was outstanding as she told us. The staff is always hustling and the place was packed but we found a seat without reservations. If you want to feel a part of local Florence and not pay an arm and a leg, this is a sure pet. Highly recommended.

“Great dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

We ate here on our first night in Florence. Our hotel made the reservation for us. It was a great way to start our trip. The place is simple but comfortable. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. Of greatest importance: the pizza is just outstanding. Among the best we have ever had. Beautiful crust -- not to thin, not too thick; just right.
