“Very cosy small resto with great meat and great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012

We went on a Monday and had a very big and great tasting piece of meat. Very friendly and nice owner. Excellent, inexpensive wine. Only 6 tables inside with a nice and cosy atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

“Not the best compromise price/quantity”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

The quality is indeed excellent but the quantities are at level of "nouvelle cuisine". If you are very hungry and you do not want to spend so much, I suggest something else. There is a wide choice of good wines and the owner is very competent in this field.

“A bit outside the centre but worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2012 via mobile

We went a few evenings ago. We were the only customers there at the time- shame because the food and service were great .Lovely fish dishes and my husbands dessert a fruit parfait he said was one of the best he'd tasted.

“Outstanding experience with new owners.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2012 via mobile

Just out of the beaten path for tourists but within walking distance at Ponto Rosso, this charming little gem is setting a new course with new owners and a seafood oriented concept. Chef Aldo Ventre has partnered with Gianluca Gafforio, who greeted us and offered a very good discussion of the menu in English. His friendly greeting and casual jeans assured us that we would feel comfortable in our tourist garb. Their concept is to offer the freshest and best of ingredients at an affordable price. Even in some of the tony spots in central Florence, you'll get the price but not the top ingredients. The grilled grouper was prepared to perfection, and Gianluca even showed us a photo of the 11kg fish plucked fresh from the med. Although seafood focused, my partner savored the Piedmont "false filet" from the prized Fassona cattle, a cut even more flavorful than the real thing. Meat lovers, fear not! Gianluca guided us through our wine selection, just right and affordable at only €18 for the bottle.
With Only 7 tables, the place is small but cozy and air conditioned to keep you comfy on a busy evening. Soft jazz, a la Miles and Monk mixed softly with the local clientele, great hospitality and top quality, you really can't miss. I live in Europe as an expat for almost 20 years and I'd rate this as one of my top dining experiences. Casual elegance done right.

“A quaint tratteria away from it all”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2012

I went here on my birthday last week with a girlfriend and we had an amazing meal. It has new owners, they are two handsom men, Gianluca is very charming he runs the front of the house as we call it in the restaurant biz. Its an intimate place meaning the tables are few and near one another, but I didn't mind. They are known for their fish, but I saw a couple who had steak and it looked and smelt wonderful. Enjoy!
