This small trattoria at the beginning of via Bolognese is very traditional. Offers great traditional Italian cusine and is not expensive. We also bought some take away food to enjoy at the Villa we rented up via Bolognese.

“Very special place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2011

We were lucky enough to find this restaurant on the evening we arrived in Florence. We were made to feel so welcome. The food was delicious, we returned 3 or 4 times during our stay so sampled most of it.....really gorgeous, great flavours. The service was warm and professional. Can't wait to go back......

“Look at the recent 4 & 5 star reviews - they're all in Italian! Enough said.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2011

Seriously, look at the more recent reviews on TripAdvisor, they are by Italians - that should be all the review you need to decide to eat here. Other than the waiter, we were the only ones speaking English.

We found this place on the recommendation of a friend who had been to Florence. It is not in the tourist part of town, so you need to take a short cab ride. It is well worth it. The restaurant only seats 20 people. The owner / manager / waiter runs the orders back into the kitchen where his mother is the chef! After eating at the more touristy places in Florence, this was exactly what we needed on our last night! Great seafood, home made - this is why you go to Italy. Loved it!

“Small restaurant, big flavours”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2010

Fish restaurants are thin on the ground in Florence, making Pane e Olio an even more special find. We were recommended here by our B&B. Tiny interior, family run, very attentive and really good dishes. Seafood is the star, but everything we ate was good.

There's an outside seating area too (though on the October evening we were here, inside was good!)
