“Rude.”

Opening hours for Sunday lunch are until 3.30pm.
Arrive at 2.30 pm to a half empty restaurant.
Waiter briskly says we're closed.
I point to opening hours.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2012

My wife and I wanted this to be a good restaurant: the chef was a woman and the menu looked like she was trying to do interesting and creative things with Tuscan cuisine; both difficult things to achieve in a country like Italy and a city like Florence which place great emphasis on tradition and traditional roles. Alas, she has failed. The meals, while they looked good on paper, did not meet their promise, and potentially creative flair was in reality amateurish concoction. This was made worse by poor preparation and presentation and indifferent service. For example my stuffed pigeon was overcooked on the outside so that it was dry and stringy while slightly undercooked on the inside. The dish was poorly presented in a mass of roasted potatoes that appeared to have been precooked and reheated in the microwave as they were soggy and the temperature varied from very warm to barely warm in different places. My wife's choice of steak with porcini mushrooms was not that bad but it was not quality cuisine and was not prepared as she asked. They added insult to injury with the wine. We asked them to choose red wines (by glass only) to go with our meals and the wines they provided were both clearly and quite heavily oxidated. They must have been opened at least four days. We have been almost six weeks in Italy (of which a month in Florence) and this was our most disappointing restaurant experience. Perhaps a good indicator was that there were no Italians in the restaurant, only tourists like us. The only potential thing that might have made our experience at this restaurant unusual was that the chef was not there that night and she may have been let down by very poor staff.

“Unforgettable--bathroom in the dining room”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2012 via mobile

Mixed bag. Had a wonderful appetizer of radicchio baked in puff pastry with a Gorgonzola sauce and my husband's clam chowder was very good. The pasta with porcinis was okay--very very plain. My steak was ordered medium and came out rare. Sent it back and it came back well. Poached pear dessert with orange creama was very good. Service was cold--almost rude. And it seems that the tourists get seated in the dining room with a frosted glass porta potty. You can watch people fix their hair while you wait for your food.

“A Pleasant Surprise in Florence”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2012

We stumbled upon this restaurant which had a very modern but cozy atmosphere, the waiter was great and the food taste was even better. Was also a great value for money as we enjoyed a nice dinner with a nice bottle of wine for 100 Euros which is wonderful after many disappointing restaurants in travels. Visit if you can in Florence
