Description: Around the tables of "Il Latini" friendships are interwoven, all the world's languages are spoken, fervent discussions are held and everyone tastes food that has the flavour of the old times past. Il Latini means tradition: a means of discovering Tuscany and its people. The kitchen is where the best products of Tuscany's countryside are turned into the dishes typical of the tuscan tradition. Il Latini's kitchen was originally the kitchen of Narciso's wife, who used to take the dishes from her home to the cellars in Palazzo Rucellai where tables were set. Sora Maria's cooking was made of ingredients and flavours typical of tuscan cuisine, simple and genuine food that nowadays are still a characteristic of the restaurant. The flood in Florence did not spare the tavern, which continued nevertheless to serve warm dishes Florentine citizens among the muddy streets.

We went to Il latini for lunch. It was recommended by locals and we were not disappointed. No menus are handed out the waiter just runs through a short list of food so we were concerned with what the bill could run into. We had a selection of cold meats as starter followed by a choice of penne al ragu or ravioli with tomatoe sauce followed by an excellent bistecca. The bill averaged 40euros ahead with wine and coffee , excellent food at excellent prices.

VERY nice restaurant but we felt pressured and rushed on a wednesday lunch. Im still deciding if I should try again or not....the food (spinach ravioli, zuppa) average and probably could be' better for a place in the Tuscan region.

We had this place recomended to us by locals. When we got there around 730 there was a line of people waiting to get in. Luckily the doors opened and there was enough space for the 5 of us. A waiter explained the menu to us and recommended the house wine and a sampler of antipasti and meats. The wine was good, the antipasty was better; the meats were great.Service was very friendly and helpful translating the menu. Also, very reasonable prices for the quality of food served.

I have eaten at three of the best restaurants in the world and this found its way into my top 3!!!
On a family vacation with our 12 year old son the entire staff made us feel at home and like locals...

We opted for the prix fix offering and trusted our MVP waiter Alessandro would fill in the blanks.
He not only succeeded, but far surpassed our wildest expectations with the finale of a private tour of the wine cellar - certainly a treat for all of us.

This restaurant, although challenging to find is one of the top restaurants in the world and judging from the others around us they all feel the same. Houston, Texas to the right, a family from Israel,
a family from Connecticut and other world travelers all in soon to be food comas from the overwhelming flavors, sauces and herbs that define Tuscan cooking.

How lucky are we to have an experience like this and all I can do is say run, don't walk to this Tuscan gem...you will not have a single regret!!!

The atmosphere here is great! It is something you really must experience when in Florence. Not great for vegetarians but there are still some options and wonderful pasta. Reservations are recommended.
