Description: If you fancy a break from the hustle and bustle of Florence, take the plunge and book yourself a table at Ora d'Aria in the Via Ghibellina. Decorated in shades of vanilla, this elegant restaurant is a welcome escape from the tourist trail, and Head Chef Marco Stabile has created a menu which features the best culinary traditions from the region. Sit back and relax as dishes such as the spaghetti with cuttlefish drizzled with extra virgin olive oil; Piedmontese steak with garlic chips and panzella salad; and black cod with a Tuscan bean and onion salad give you an authentic taste of Tuscany in stylish surrounds. Ora d'Aria's impressive wine list features an excellent selection of Tuscan and French wines.

If I could legally kidnap Marco Stabile and his team to feed me, I would. The restaurant has crisp, elegant, modern interiors. Service is friendly and not stuffy and not overly familiar. The Florentine/Tuscan tasting menu explores subtle tastes and brings one's concept of Italian cuisine to a new high. Prices are reasonable for the type of restaurant. Definitely a must for any foodie visiting Florence.

My husband and I are lactose intolerant and it sometimes made ordering in Italy a bit challenging. We had a lovely meal at Oro d'Aria. We loved watching the controlled frenzy in the open plan kitchen. The service was friendly, professional but completely non-intrusive. We were most impressed that the Chef took on the challenge of spontaneously creating a dessert specifically for us because we could not eat anything on the set dessert menu. It was so delicious but it was also so considerate. We have been to many fine restaurants in global cities where our dessert issues were met with a shrug or the offer of boring lemon sorbet. We would recommend the restaurant based on the food and the experience alone but the desire to please us prompts us to strongly recommend allocating your budget to a trip to Oro d'Aria.

The danger in TripAdvisor is that you get many plain or simple places - like pizza or gelato shops -listed much higher than truly fine places - like this Michelin starred restaurant. This place is fairly special if our meal was any indication. They were very welcoming to tourists (which we were, plainly) but it is not a tourist trap by any stretch. The service was excellent, as was the food and the wine. We both ordered from the tasting menu. Not every course was the best thing we had ever had, but all were at least very good. I didn't know what tiramisu was supposed to taste like until dessert. Everything about the experience from start to finish said they really cared about what they were doing.
Would definitely return, and would definitely recommend it for a special meal. Best meal ever? No, likely not. But excellent, yes. Suggest you make a reservation as you likely can't just walk in. We were lucky - we arrived there midweek the moment it opened (7pm) and got the only table in the place that was available.

I've wanted to eat here for some time, having heard good things. An attractive, modern restaurant in a quiet side street, with excellent, friendly service. It's the food you come here for and I wasn't convinced. Lots of ambition and creativity, but it didn't really take flight for us, much as I wanted to love it. Certainly an enjoyable evening, but I don't think we would return. I can easily appreciate that other reviewers may love Ora d'Aria, it just didn't work for us.

We could not secure dinner reservations in this restaurant and had to settle for lunch. We spent a leisurely 3 hour (or more) lunch - realised it was time to go when the automatic shutters in the full glass kitchen started to come down.

We were the first guests to arrive for lunch and the empty dining area (downstairs) was an elegant sight to behold. We like the contemporary surroundings in its simplicity as it did not distract from the food and its presentation. We went for the tasting menu - Creative, exceptional food paired with a lovely wine. The service was superb and the explaination of each course served.

We enjoyed every single morsel!
