“Unpretentious and local with delicious Florentine cuisine”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

We arrived at 8.30 and found the restaurant very busy - locals and tourists, the atmosphere was bustling but pleasant. We decided right away that we would stay and wait for a table, even though the head server told us it would be about a 30-minute wait - it was pouring outside and we felt that we couldn't possibly eat anywhere else. It was worth it - ribolitta as a first dish warmed us right up, for drinks we ordered the house wine - not extraordinary, but a nice red, not too heavy and it complimented the dishes very nicely. The star of the evening was the humongous Florentine Steak, with a side of artichokes and potatoes. Delicious. We split everything with my boyfriend and we had more than enough to eat. I wouldn't say that it was too expensive - most other restaurants seemed to be in the same price range, but the food really was great. Overall - the cuisine was simple and honest, prepared well and true to what local italians eat. This was one of our most enjoyable evenings in Florence. I would highly recommend going here and do try to book a table in advance, or at least arrive as early as possible to get a table.

First ate here about 5 years ago.
Returned June 2013 & the quality is just how we remembered it.
Lovely cabbage soup, great bistecca.............sadly no spicy apple cake the night we were there.
Try the Florentine potatoes.
Attentive & friendly service.
And all very reasonably priced.

The best meal we have had in Rome or Florence. The ricotto lemon filled pasta was delicious. The steak was shared and cooked to perfection. Cannot wait to return to Florence.

“One of our favorites in Italy!”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

We had one of our favorite meals in Italy at this restaurant! We started with a panzanella salad followed by roast beef (very thin slices of beef baked in the oven, drizzled with a light sauce) and a side of radiccio verde. We topped it off with a cheesecake that reminded me of pasteis de nata! The service was fast and efficient and every dish was cooked/assembled to perfection! It was also fun seeing the chefs cook from our seat (we were seated in the front of the resto), I will surely return to this place!

“Rustic Tuscan Dinner”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

What can I say.... It was just what we were looking for. The food was rustic, not fussy, full of taste and just amazing. Make sure to go there around half 7. Otherwise you will not get a table. We tried to go there the next night and were turned away. People queued up to get into the restaurant.

The food was very authentic and cheap. We had starter, main, dessert, water and 1 Litre of wine for 53 EUR. You won't get that anywhere. Make sure to have the meatball and potato dish. You can imagine that t was cooked by mama in the kitchen. The staff were friendly although the one who turned me away the next night was not. But then again I was trying to get a table very late at night.

If you want to impress your new gf or if its special occasion this might not be an ideal choice. But then again if she does not like real food you might want to think twice about your date.
