“Not bad...not good...”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

We stopped in here for a late afternoon lunch while wandering around Florence one afternoon. There was nothing that really drove us towards this spot aside from the two places we had stopped before were both closed until dinner. There was barely any diners in the restaurant and we didn't find the service surly or rude like some people have mentioned but rather that they just didn't care and hung out at the front with their backs to the diners. The food was decent by no means the best we had and it wasn't over priced. it was what we were looking for an we didn't require a lot of service as we were stopping for a quick bite.

“Trattoira Marione, May '13”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

We stopped in here due to the high ranking here at Trip Advisor, but were vastly disappointed. The pricing was reasonable, but the food was below average and the service was nearly non-existent. The bakery next door - Forno Top - was much better in terms of quality and service.

“Delicious! Worth the grumpiness.”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

We found this restaurant on our last night in Florence. We were hungry; it was late. We walked up, checked out the menu, thought--eh, it looks good--and then were told there would be a thirty minute wait. We decided to go ahead and put our name on the list, and we were seated within five minutes.
Here's the bad. Much of the service was rather unfriendly. I was told that I couldn't get tap water--apparently it's rude to ask for it (my mom read that in some forum or something) but I didn't know that, and I had asked for it every where else we went, and got it, no problem. I have no idea what that server's name was, but he snarked and snarled at us through pretty much our entire meal. But thankfully we didn't have a whole lot of interaction with him. There was another young fellow who was much sweeter and more earnest who brought us our food and finished out our service, so it was really only half of the service that was grouchy. And the guys up front.

However, the good--THE FOOD!!!! Yeah, the waiters were a little surly, but who cares when you're eating delectable, delicious dishes?! Our first time eating there (we went back the next day!) we got ravioli and spaghetti. I can still taste that ravioli now. The sauce was so delicate and perfectly seasoned. Nothing overwhelmed it, so that the brothy, saucy, goodness of it was allowed to sort of settle and simmer in your mouth and tummy. My mom was craving meat, so she got just a typical bolognese ragu with spaghetti, and again, perfectly flavored, and surprisingly chock full of meat. SO good! The next day we got lasagna--yum! And yes! And a pesto dish. The pesto dish is what the earnest waiter suggested--I wish I had gotten the lasagna instead--the pesto was a little overwhelming for me--it would be fine as an accoutrement to a meal, but as my entire meal, it was too much, though still delicious.

I definitely recommend this place.

“Good Food, Surly Service”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

I liked this little trattoria. There was a big crowd of locals when we ate here so that's always a good sign. I had a very tasty plate of homemade ricotta cheese and spinach ravioli topped with a fresh vegetable medly. The servers were a bit surly but service was fast, efficient and unhurried. There was a good mix of tourists and locals. The tables are close together and extremely cramped so if you are uncomfortable with other diners staring at you while you eat and hitting your elbows, you'd better dine early when it's less crowded. All in all, a good meal with high quality ingredients and food.

“Stay away!”
Reviewed June 20, 2013 via mobile

We were wandering around looking for a charming typical Italian trattoria when we stumbled upon Trattoaria Marione. The place seemed to be busy and looked charming so we considered to give it a go. We got sent straight down to the basement level where they seemed to stock up tourists. The basement was lacking the charm we first saw on ground level but we thought we were lucky to even get a table. They served a variety of stale bread without olive oil (cover charge €2 pp) while we were waiting for our starter. The starter was nothing special, prosciutto and salami slices. For mains we ordered lamb with potato and salmon with rocket and a side of cooked vegetables. I asked the waitress if the lamb and potato would come with any kind of sauce, she replied no but she guaranteed it wouldn't be necessary as it would be cooked in oil and juices. However, the lamb was so very dry and tough I'm sure it's been laying for ages and been reheated, besides it was more fat than actual meat. There was no moist from any oil or juices so the potato came out very dry as well. The salmon was overcooked, dry and partly burned and was served with old and sad looking rocket. The side vegetables was better than both mains but yet very oily and greasy. We had another English speaking couple next to us who's food looked really disgusting. Later a bucks party full of very loud Italians came down. Their food looked very different. The waitresses had a good chat and treated them very differently comparing to us tourist all seated on the opposite side. We were quick to finish up and just wanted to get out of there. It was really upsetting to pay a large amount of €50 for such poor food. On our way out the waiters seem to have a good laugh about how quick we left the establishment. Summary: stay away from this place! Worst dinner experience in Italy by far.
