This tour was one of the biggest highlights of our trip to Tuscany.
We started the tour from the 500 Touring Clubhouse outside the Florence city centre with two friendly couples from the United States, which was great as we could avoid negotiating the crowded streets of the city.
Our convoy for the day was led by Beppe and he did a fantastic job of introducing us to the Chianti region, explaining the processes of wine and olive oil-making. He took great care of us during the drive and was more than willing to engage in conversation about Italy and our home countries of Singapore and the United States.
The double-clutch system may seem a little daunting at first, but manual shift drivers should be able to get used to it after a short while.
Needless to say, the cars were really cute and it was a real treat being part of a convoy of these colourful and vintage cars. The day ended with a sumptuous lunch at the villa near the clubhouse. I would recommend this enjoyable tour to everyone visiting Florence - after all, how often would you get to drive through the beautiful Tuscan countryside in a classic Fiat 500?
